(More customer reviews)This review is intended to help clarify why some people have problems with this and other similar USB extension cables for the Kinect controller and some do not.
For the Kinect Special Edition 250GB XBOX (and perhaps the 4GB version as well??) this cable will NOT WORK. The reason for that is because the special edition XBOX has one non-standard USB port in the back specifically for the Kinect sensor. This port takes a slightly different plug (angled on one side and has two rows of contacts) as compared to a standard USB port (rectangluar and only one row of 4 contacts). This was done to satisfy the extra power requirement to move the Kinect sensor head. The special edition XBOX provides this power through the special USB-like port without the need for an additional power pack. Since the extra power could damage other USB devices when plugged into this port the connector was shaped differently to prevent such mishaps. I believe the only extension that will work on the special edition XBOXes is the Microsoft 10ft $50 cable.
From what I read on the internet there are some Kinect controllers out there with a standard USB plug and a seperate power pack to connect to other, possibly older XBOX models. This cable will presumably work for those Kinect controllers, but I don't have one to try this so you may want to verify this elsewhere.
Again, if you have a special edition XBOX that comes with the Kinect sensor this cable WILL NOT WORK for you. It will not fit into the socket on the XBOX nor will the Kinect sensor fit on the other end.
