Microsoft Xbox 360 Arcade - Game console Review

Microsoft Xbox 360 Arcade - Game console

Ok heres the deal - After noticing that there are used xbox >arcades< being sold for over 200$ I think this needs to be said. You can buy one brand new with a controller and game and cables for $150 at Walmart. I owned one for a year and now it's still being used by one of my buddies in Iraq. This system does not come with very much memory, but I never found any of need for memory. Now if you're a hard core gamer, or you want to download music, games, movies, etc. then you might want to go with one of the larger memory systems, but it will cost you around 100$ extra. I loved it and am happy I did not waste my money on memory I did not need.

Digital Innovations 4190100 Clean Dr. Laser Lens Cleaner Review

Digital Innovations 4190100 Clean Dr. Laser Lens Cleaner

My xbox 360 have had this problem where it won't read any of the disc most of the time. I have to keep ejecting and putting it back in until the disc is read. Sometimes the process takes 10 mins to work. So I got this cleaner.
I put this disc in and once it read. I play this "DVD" and start the cleaning process. When it reaches 100%, the process is done and it will do "clean" the lens to maximize the audio as well but I didn't need that. After that I just stick in any disc and it has been.
It works perfectly. Intended for xbox 360 and that is what I used it for. 5-star. I want to be universal and give it 4star instead but it just work so good for my purpose.

250G HDD Hard Disk Drive For Microsoft Xbox 360 w/Hard Drive Data Migration Transfer Cable Review

250G HDD Hard Disk Drive For Microsoft Xbox 360 w/Hard Drive Data Migration Transfer Cable
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recieved the 250 HD with Migration cable with a disc. Their were no instructions with the product. After experimenting I found out that the disc was for PC use only not for use in with the Xbox 360. I went to to Game Stop and spoke with someone and called Xbox live for help. They instucted me that the disc was not neccessary and intructed me on how to transfer the data. Well that didn't work either and emailed the dealer they emailed me instructions on how to or rather an attachment with pics. To make a long story short I could not transfer my data using the tranfer cable they sent me. I had to transfer the data from my original HD to a flashdrive and then install the 250GB HD into my Xbox 360 and transfer the data to the HD from from the flashdrive. The only reason. I didn't ask for a refund is because the 250GB HD w/Transfer cable and disc where still way cheaper than what Microsoft is asking for their 250GB HD. I suggest going just buying a 250GB HD by itself and using a flashdrive to transfer your data.
You can even use a 2.0GB falshdrive you will just have to keep switching the original and the new one back and forth if you have alot of data on your original harddrive. And if you have any data that is larger then what the flashdrive can handle then just upload the data you originally purchased off xbox market place and upload it on the new drive. It should be free since you already had purchased it. But you have to make sure you us your gamertag you orinally used to purchase your games etc. Note: Do not move your gamertag info to the flashdrive until you move all the information over to the new drive unless you have a big enough flshdrive to move it all at once. Otherwise you won't be able to move your data all over.

Xbox 360 250GB Holiday Bundle Review

Xbox 360 250GB Holiday Bundle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
DISCLAIMER: This review is limited to the redesigned Xbox 360 that came out in June of 2010.
First of all, the Xbox 360 is a truly great console with an excellent game library and revolutionary online play. With that said, I know many have experienced problems with overheating, causing a number of issues. I know Microsoft has claimed it is "whisper quiet" and that it runs significantly cooler than previous versions. That is true, to an extent. But what Microsoft has failed to convey to the general public is that the Xbox is basically a highly modified computer that generates significant heat and needs proper ventilation to function like they claim. So here are some general tips for unsuspecting consumers.
1. Install the game to the harddrive: Under My Xbox you will see "Play [Title of Game]". Hit the yellow Y button to install game. It will give you the option of install game or play game. Choose to install. This shouldn't take very long, each game is 5-7 GB each. You will notice your system drop a few volume levels after doing this. Trust me!
2. Proper ventilation: This takes some common sense. Make clear and ample room for your heat vents. Most of the heat dissipates from the top vent (if you console is laying horizontal) and right side.
3. Keep your Xbox horizontal. Yes, the Amazon picture currently shows an upright, vertical Xbox. It looks cool, I know. The first thing I did with mine was place it vertical on a hardwood floor and played for maybe an hour. Bad idea. The area of the floor where my console once stood was unbelievably hot.
Keep in mind that you need to have the 250GB version in order to install games. The 4 GB just doesn't give enough space. Installing your games and maintaining proper ventilation are key to keeping your Xbox 360 as cool as possible. Not to mention the quicker load times and super quiet operation when actually playing. Hopefully following these simple tips will prolong the life of your console. May you and your Xbox 360 have a long, happy relationship!

High Speed 1.4 HDMI with Ethernet Gold Plated Cable Supports 3D + Audio Return Channel for Microsoft Xbox 360 - 25 Feet, Black/Red Review

High Speed 1.4 HDMI with Ethernet Gold Plated Cable Supports 3D + Audio Return Channel for Microsoft Xbox 360 - 25 Feet, Black/Red

I bought two cables, one was supposed to support Audio Return Channel, but both cables were the exact part number when i recieved the package. I paid $2 more for nothing. Other than that the cables work flawlessly. Quality seems to be good. I was criticized by my co-workers when i ordered the cables. They said $15 cables would not work as well as the $250 Monster cables. "Oh NO those will not work, you need monster cables!" they said. Ha! I am laughing my way to the audio\video store to buy a new $400 PARADIGM center channel. I saved over $450 buying these, and the picture quality is awesome! I switched from component cables on my dish reciever and my x-box, and the picture improved drastically. I HIGHLY recommend these cables if you dont want to pay an extra $235 for fancy, colorful packaging with claims of being superior. I did some research, and everyone says the same thing. With a digital signal, as with HDMI, you either get a signal or you dont. If it works, you can't get a better signal. Keep that in mind when making your decision.

White plastic got you bummed out? Swap that eyesore Xbox 360 white case for one of our Clear Ghost Cases. This is the most complete 360 case on the market, with high quality plastic that gives the appearance of glass (nobody wants murky clouded plastic cases)! This is the only case in the world that comes with a clear DVD drive lid, which actually lets you the DVD spinning while you play! Inside this amazing kit is also a clear fan tunnel, without this vital piece you wouldn't even be able to see your circuit board! This piece opens up the whole inside of your console so you can see everything going on inside (this also allows for your custom lighting kit to light up everything in the case)! NOTE: ADVANCED CASE MOD PRODUCT. YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO OPEN AND ASSEMBLE XBOX 360. WE DO NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS TO REDUCE SALES TO NON-MODDERS.This is a specialty product, manufactured in limited quantities. If there are any problems, please contact the seller. Xbox 360 Console Review

Xbox 360 Console
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The xbox 360 Kinect with 4 GB. is what the original arcade version should have been, and is definitely worth its $300 price tag.
10 new features of this model are:
1. New Valhalla chip - hopefully improved design to prevent RRoD issue, but tech. reviews noted that the Jasper chip in the older Elite model runs cooler
2. WiFi N - this is the newest wifi standard that is 12X faster (up to 600 Mbits/ sec) than wifi G; you'll need a Wifi N router to get the max. speed
3. digital optical audio port (if your sound system is separate from your TV, then you'll need this to get full 5.1 surround sound)
4. 4 GB of flash memory (although 1.1 GB is used by the game system, but 0.3 GB can be reclaimed by deleting 4 game demos)
5. 5 USB ports (2 in front & 3 in back)
6. slimmer design with side vents (to prevent overheating)
7. dedicated port for Kinect with demo game (also $50 cheaper than buying Kinect separately from Xbox)
8. only 1 year of warranty (the only negative; older Elite models had 3 yrs.)
9. USB flash drive support (this was a xbox software update released in April 2010)
10. ESPN video streaming (will be included if you are a Gold member, $50/ yr.; should be available about Nov. 2010)
Slim 4 GB vs. 250 GB hard drive:
I bought the 4 GB system over the model with 250 GB hard drive because the xbox now supports game saves/ installs/ downloads and pic/ audio/ video downloads to USB flash drives. It supports 1-2 USB flash drives with 1-16 GB memory (using a 16 GB drive, 1.6 GB is used for formatting). Saving games and media to the USB drives is recommended since loading games and media will be much faster (reading memory is faster than reading hard drive) and more reliable (flash memory rarely fails, unlike hard drives); even the xbox live director recommended using USB drives for storage. If you have such a huge appetite for videos downloads and game demos that 32 GB can not accomodate, then you can always upgrade later with the 250 GB hard drive that will be sold in November; note that the older xbox hard drives are NOT compatible with the slim models. Installing xbox 360 games and game demos on the flash drives is no problem; xbox will ask you which drive to install the game. However, I can not verify if you can install older xbox games like Halo on the flash drive. The only xbox game I have is Halo 2, which does not install on flash. This problem may be specific to Halo 2 because even xbox live does not have Halo 2 for sale, which means Halo 2 is not supported without a xbox hard drive. I'm suspecting that any older games listed on xbox live is enabled for flash installation, but if they're not listed then you'll need a xbox hard drive. This is annoying but not a big issue since there are only a few older xbox games that you may want to play.
While the concept of natural body movements translating into character's actions sounds intuitive, the implementation of this idea in games has eluded many game developers. Too much motion will tire out the gamer, repetitive motion will bore the gamer, and complicated motions can not be successfully detected by the controllers. I'll compare motion controllers for all 3 systems below.
Usage Comparison:
The Wii was wildly popular when it was released due to its novelty, however 4 years later, few Wii game innovations have appeared causing Nintendo to lose market share in the past year. The PS3 Move is more accurate than the Wii since the Move tracks motion in 3-D space while the Wii tracks motion in 2-D space (2 dimensional, like paper) and analyzes that data to interpret 3-D movements. The light globe on the PS3 Move looks cool initially, but the bright light becomes glaringly annoying soon, especially in a dark room. Both the Wii and PS3 motion controllers are less integrated to the console's navigations and functions than the Xbox Kinect. The Kinect allows users to say commands and motion gestures to navigate menus, browse online, interact with avatars, and play media content. Winner: Xbox Kinect.
Price Comparison:
The Wii system ($200) includes the 3 controllers (Wiimote, nunchuk, & motionPlus) needed for 1 player, but costs another $40-80 per player, depending on the accessories that you buy. The PS3 Move retails for $100 for 1 player and the XBOX Kinect retails for $150 for 2 players, but both are accessories so they require the original game system. Also, the PS3 Move requires $50-100 more per player, depending on the accessories that you buy, while the XBOX initially supports 2 players but is capable of tracking 6 players for future games. All 3 motion systems include a game to showcase the controller's features. For 2 players, the Wii is the cheapest system and the PS3 is the most expensive; but when the Xbox supports 4 players (probably via a software update in 1 year), it will be cheaper than getting a Wii. Winner: Xbox Kinect (assuming 4+ players).
Technical Comparison:
Motion detection differs in all 3 game systems. The Wii uses micromechanical components, such as an accelerometer and gyroscope, and an infrared sensor. The PS3 Move uses an accelerometer, angular-rate sensor, and visual tracking of a LED-lit globe. While the Wii & PS3 Move use similar components, the PS3 has the advantage since its components have 3-axis of motion detection compared to 2-axis sensors in the Wii; also the PS3 has a stronger processor to calculate position and distance. Instead of relying on micromechanical components, the XBOX Kinect uses a video camera, an infrared camera, and a 4-microphones array, which together is capable of gesture, facial, and voice recognition for tracking up to 6 players. The PS3's disadvantage is that micromechanical components may wear & tear and cause inaccurate motion detection, while the Xbox's disadvantage is that more processing overhead is needed when analyzing video and sound to interpret the players' motion. While the PS3 is the obvious winner over the Wii, the success of the PS3 Move vs. the Xbox Kinect will depend on the game developers' ability to translate motion into actions. Overall, the Xbox Kinect has a slight advantage because the motion software can always be improved by Microsoft, whereas the PS3 controllers will most likely remain unchanged since hardware redesigns are always expensive to both the company and its users. Winner: Xbox Kinect.
Summary: the Kinect wins all 3 comparisons, so the Xbox is a great buy!
