Philips & BenQ VAD6038 DVD Replacement Drive for Xbox 360 Review

Philips and BenQ VAD6038 DVD Replacement Drive for Xbox 360
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If your xbox 360 has any of the following but not limited to
*xbox 360 recognizes games as dvd's but will not play them
*After game disc inserted Xbox 360 displays open tray error
*Games take longer than usual to load and sometimes they never load all together
This Ben Q drive will fix all your problems and bring your system back to life like when it was brand new.
This replacement drive must be flashed with dvd key from original xbox 360 dvd drive before it will recognize games correctly. The process of flashing should probably be left up to professional installers but it can be accomplished by average users with the right amount of reading.....The program needed to flash is called jungle flasher,it can be googled. The flashing process is not modding the console to play copies, it is just copying the dvd key over to the new drive from the old dvd drive, so it is safe on xbox live and you probably won't be banned from xbox live 99% sure
Also because of the flashing process this model drive is able to replace any model that you currently have in your 360 ( toshiba, lite on , samsung, benq, and hitachi)

Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone Review

Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First thing's first: On 9/25/2009, an update was released to enable functionality of this microphone with all Rock Band games (thus, previous reviews mentioning that issue are now moot). I can confirm that the mic now does "work" with all Rock Band games.
However, the functionality of this microphone is utterly horrid (with the Rock Band games). In short: there is a very noticeable lag when singing into the microphone. The lag causes you to hear an echo when singing in game and causes your timing and pitch to go out of whack - making it near impossible to play songs on harder skill levels. In order to confirm that there was definitely an un-fixable issue with the wireless microphone, I did a little test and played a specific song on both the stock/corded and wireless microphones (both multiple times). Each time, I got double (sometimes triple) the score with the stock/corded microphone. It appears that the lag introduced by the wireless microphone is throwing off the timing, and it may have an issue with the pitch as well (however, I can't confirm the latter).
Let me stop for a second and state that I have exhausted all avenues of trying to correct this problem. I've tried calibrating the audio/video lag in the Rock Band settings, and I've tried switching audio sources (from TV to receiver). This lag issue is a result of a poor wireless connection between the microphone and the game console - meaning that no in-game setting can fix the issue. It should also be noted that numerous users on the Rock Band forums are complaining about this very same issue with both the wireless microphone and the "Lips" microphones.
Is this something that can be corrected through a future update? doubtful. First of all, the issue is likely hardware related. If there is just a laggy connection between the microphone and the xbox, then no software can fix that. Further, it took about 8 months since introduction for Rock Band to issue this update (on 9/25) so I highly doubt that their development team is going to jump to fix this particular issue. Plus, the microphone still "functions" - it's just a much worse experience than using the corded microphone.
So in conclusion, I absolutely recommend against purchasing this microphone. At $50, you're paying a lot of money to remove the wire from your existing microphone. If the thing doesn't work just as well as your corded mic, it's certainly not worth $50. Also, if you're really into getting high scores through the vocal sections, you will encounter nothing but frustration with the timing issues. Personally, I rarely even sing and I couldn't deal with the lag and the echo, so I know that it'll really irritate the hard core singers.
If you absolutely must go "all wireless" with your Rock Band setup, I'd advise you to wait and see if Rock Band officially announces a fix. If not, make sure you have an easy means to return the mic in the event that the lag affects you.
Happy gaming!

Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Review

Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Xbox Arcade Unplugged is a collection of some of the best-selling games from the Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox 360. Included is 6 games, 3 demos and a 1 month subscription to live.
1 month of live (retail $8) - It is a great service for online play of any game. You can download and rent movies, buy tv episodic content, and chat with friends, families, and strangers around the world.
Bejeweled 2 (retail $10)- A popular puzzle game in which you try to match up jewels in order to get to the next level. There are several modes to Bejeweled, some unlockable. The game is a real challenge, and if you like puzzle games, you will be pleased with Bejeweled 2.
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved (retail $5) - An instant classic in the tradition of Asteroids. You fly around in a 'ship' trying to destroy geometric shapes, each having their own characteristics. As you progress, the games elements get harder, and more shapes are introduced. A fantastic game that is fun for just about everyone.
Hardwood Backgammon (retail $5) - Classic Backgammon action. You can play against a friend on the couch, vs. the computer, or take on someone online on Xbox Live. Hardwood Backgammon is also Camera Enabled.
Outpost Kaloki X (retail $10) - A strategy game in which you are in outer space, attempting to manage power and research. A variety of missions and scenarios to keep you busy are included.
Wik and the Fable of Souls (retail $10) - A crazy game about a small creature who uses his tongue to eat bugs and whip around treelimbs. Part puzzle game, part action, this game can be very challenging. There are over 120 levels in the game, each one being more difficult than the last.
Texas Hold 'em (retail $10) - This may be the junk of the bundle. A poorly executed attempted interface leaves most poker players wondering why they didn't copy any of the popular online poker sites and their interface. Often multiplayer works too slow, while you wait for others to take their turn. There are some scenarios to work on in single player. Overall, it isn't too bad, but it leaves a lot to be desired amongst poker players. Also included are demos of Uno, Marble Blast Ultra, and Feeding Frenzy.
Uno is the classic card game everyone knows. It translates to Xbox Live very well and is camera enabled. It has a wide variety of gameplay options, including partner play. Marble Blast Ultra is a game in which you try to move your marble around to the exit point. Each level is brilliantly designed, colorful, and challenging. Feeding Frenzy is a great game for all ages, in which you start each level as a small fish, eating other fish and growing as you do so.
If you bought everything in this package for retail price, it would cost you $58. Even if you only need a couple of the $10 games, it's still agreat bargain with the 1 month of Xbox Live for free.

Xbox 360 Turbofire Wireless Controller - White Review

Xbox 360 Turbofire Wireless Controller - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this controller because it was cheaper than the official brand and for its turbo fire abilities, but I regret it. The controller is very bulky and awkward to hold. The triggers are very hard to push in and sensitivity is really low; you have to push in really hard to get it to work because the spring's so strong. Also, the sticks cannot be clicked in when it is pushed forward, which is essential for games like Call of Duty to sprint. The only advantage this controller has over the official brand is the turbo fire abilities, but there's rarely a time where you can use them. If you use them online, you'll get reported for cheating. Also, many new shooter games have added a firing cap on guns to prevent turbo fire abilities. Spend the extra $10 for the official Microsoft controller; it'll save you money because you won't have to replace this controller in the first place.

XBOX 360 WIRELESS NETWORK ADAPTER B/G NETWORKS Review

XBOX 360 WIRELESS NETWORK ADAPTER B/G NETWORKS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this instead of the $99 Microsoft wireless adapter for XBox Live. Silly me!
Bottom line: this adapter is worthless. It successfully functions about 20% of the time (that's a generous 20%) at start up--and routinely fails to maintain a connection whenever XBox Live is being used.
I'm network and hardware-savvy, with an XBox sitting about 30 feet away from my wireless router--just far enough that I don't' want to run an Ethernet cable. Signal strength is great and everything is set up exactly as instructed (although the instructions provided with the Adapter are amazingly incomplete).
After a month of off-and-on troubleshooting, I've given up. I have contacted the seller and manufacturer for either a refund or meaningful technical support. The manufacturer web site is alarmingly void of information or support.
The $99 XBox label adapter is ridiculously overpriced...but this adapter is not worth the plastic it's built with.

Ok heres the deal - After noticing that there are used xbox >arcades< being sold for over 200$ I think this needs to be said. You can buy one brand new with a controller and game and cables for $150 at Walmart. I owned one for a year and now it's still being used by one of my buddies in Iraq. This system does not come with very much memory, but I never found any of need for memory. Now if you're a hard core gamer, or you want to download music, games, movies, etc. then you might want to go with one of the larger memory systems, but it will cost you around 100$ extra. I loved it and am happy I did not waste my money on memory I did not need.

Datel XBox 360 XSATA USB Hard Drive Linking System Review

Datel XBox 360 XSATA USB Hard Drive Linking System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The XSATA is an interesting product. To sum it up, it acts as a bridge between an Xbox 360 and its hard drive, with the ability to convert the SATA connection and convert it out to a USB port. This allows you to directly access the file system on the Xbox HDD, allowing for a "normal" viewing of the folder hierarchy. This means that data, including save games, movies, and really anything can be backed up to your computer's hard drive. The main use is to have a copy of your saved games in case a file gets corrupt or your HDD dies, although there are other uses, as I'll explain later.
The first impressions of the device are not very good. Physically, it is light, and rather simple looking, and getting it onto the Xbox is a hassle. It uses a few plastic tabs that connect where the HDD normally would go, and getting it on properly can take several minutes the first time you try it. Once it is on, you'll find that it adds about 1/3" to the width (or height) of your Xbox, and fitting right between the console and the HDD. If you use your Xbox horizontally, like I do, you'll find that the XSATA also protrudes about 1/16" on the top and bottom, and when laying flat on the table, your Xbox will actually rest on the device itself instead of on its rubberized feet. I've used the XSATA for almost a year now with no side effects, but it's still an uncomfortable observation. Note that because the XSATA is a physical device that connects to your 360, you must have your Xbox turned on and in close proximity to your PC to use it.
But once you get past the initial reactions, it gets better. Fuctionally, this device is flawless. The XSATA has a standard mini-USB port on the back, and comes with a 4 foot cable for connecting to your computer (could be longer, but...). The Xplorer 360 software that is included has worked fine for me, but I highly suggest doing a Google search for the latest version, which fixes some bugs and adds support for the 512MB memory card and the 120GB HDD. (The software works on Vista, too.)
Due to the limitations of the Xbox HDD, you can't access it with the Xbox and your PC at the same time, but that's not a major issue. The Xplorer 360 software is simplistic but functional. It only takes a few clicks to access a connected 360 HDD. It only takes a few more clicks to start the backup process, which creates a 20 GB (or 120 if you have the bigger HDD) image file which you can save anywhere you want. The backup process takes about 45 minutes on a USB 2.0 connection, and virtually ensures that your files up to that point are safe. I've never had to actually use an entire image restore before, but the process is painless to perform once about every month or so.
Those that have done any amount of hacking or soft/hard modding of the original Xbox will find themselves right at home viewing the file hierarchy of the 360. For others, though, there is a good sized learning curve. Microsoft makes use of unique hexadecimal strings for each game, and until you learn them or look them up, the entire system will just seem to be random files and folders.
But once you get past that, the XSATA becomes more useful. It is possible to extract and backup individual game saves, which is a much faster and more convenient process than backing up the entire drive. Even better, if you have a way of extracting or downloading game saves from original Xbox games, those can be injected into the appropriate place on the 360 HDD and played as long as the title is BC. This can save literally hundreds of hours of playtime if you don't want to spend time getting back to where you were. This is probably the most useful function of the XSATA, as transferring original Xbox saves is virtually impossible otherwise.
Functionality aside, there is a final fringe benefit to owning the XSATA. It has blue LEDs on the sides, which means that you'll have a gentle blue light on the side of your 360. No point whatsoever, but it does get you compliments, hehe.
The XSATA isn't for everyone. While anyone can go in and backup their entire drive, it takes a slightly more advanced user to get the full use out of it. There are the abovementioned problems with installation, but once you get past those, the XSATA is a useful device that may be worth it for the ability to transfer old Xbox saves alone.

Xbox 360 120GB Hard Drive Review

Xbox 360 120GB Hard Drive
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't have the "black" one but I couldn't find the one I needed to write the review for. It's the same thing anyway - but mine is the one that is the same color as the original 20GB Xbox 360 drive.
The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think it is overpriced and should be offered by Microsoft at an "upgrade" price for people who had already purchased the 20GB drive.
Anyway, the drive comes with a kit (disc and USB cable) that allow you to easily transfer all your data from your old 20GB drive to the 120GB one. The transfer was easy and hassle-free. The entire process took less than 90 minutes. When I turned on the 360 afterwards with the new drive attached, everything booted up exactly as it had with the old 20GB drive. There was no further configuration or registration needed. All data had been preserved perfectly - downloaded demos, trailers, and other content, saved game data, music, etc. The new drive is even a little bit faster than the old one - although it's possible that my old one had gotten fragmented and that was slowing it down, so maybe it's really the same speed.
Anyway, this is nice. Now every time I want to download something I don't have to scrounge for some free hard drive space by deleting stuff I would really rather keep.
And a note to Microsoft - in case you are reading this - you should more clearly advertise that this drive comes with the data transfer kit. I have been considering buying this drive for months now, but was hesitating because I didn't think I would be able to transfer all my data from the old drive. At one point I even called the Xbox support line and specifically asked if there was a way to transfer the data over, and the lady I spoke to made no mention of the transfer kit. She told me that if I logged in and "recovered my gamer tag" that all my saved data would be restored. I brushed this off simply because that would have to mean that every bit of my 20GB of data has been sent over the internet to Microsoft's servers - and even if this had been the case, I would have probably had to leave my 360 turned on for a couple of weeks to wait while it all downloaded again.
