Xbox 360 Tritton AX 120 Performance Gaming Headset Review

(More customer reviews)I read a lot of reviews when looking for headphones to play my 360 with. I read good and bad reviews on all of them and no products (that I could afford) stood out. I saw these on amazon and pre-ordered them for a few reasons. 1. They werent crazy expensive ($60) which is what I was prepared to spend anyhow and none of the other headphones in that price range had all glowing reviews. 2. They were sold as HDMI compatible. 3. They looked SWEET.
In a lot of the other reviews with headphones like this, there would be a hiss or buzz when you plugged the microphone in to the controller. Well nothing has changed. As soon as you plug the cord in to the 360 controller there is an immediate ringing in your ears. I dont know why they havent figured out how to stop this but by and large, this is a consistent complaint on darn near every set of headphones out there.
Besides the the mic problem above I dont have an issue with these headphones. Bass comes through clear without being overwhelming. I like the removable and flexible mic. The HDMI pass through works very well. I have my 360 hooked to my surround sound system. If I plug the headphones in, the sound comes through both the speakers and the headphones. Then it is just a matter of turning down the surround sound. If you are not running HDMI you are still good to go with these as they provide whatever plugs you will need. There are separate volume controls for the game and chat and also a mute switch. I have worn the headphones for hours at a time now and they didnt become uncomfortable. The padding on the ears is very soft and incredibly comfortable.
Now these are sold as strictly 360 but if you take a stereo cable like you would use to plug an MP3 player in to an aux port in the car in place of the 360 mic plug"3.5mm Stereo Male / 3.5mm Stereo Male, 2 ft", they work just fine on the computer.
When I pre-ordered the headphones I was slightly nervous. When I plugged the mic in to the controller and heard the ringing noise, I was bummin. Now that I have used them a while I love them. I only notice the ringing at the dashboard or at the lobby or in menu of the game. During actual play I dont notice it at all. Bottom line: the AX120's are a solid choice for a $60 price tag

The wireless version is called the X95 (there is still a microphone cord that connects the headset to the game controller). I prefer the wired version because it weighs less and also costs half as much.
The ear-cups and the part that touches the top of your head are made of foam and covered with soft velvety material, so the headset is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The headband length is adjustable up to 1.75 inches on each side to fit different head sizes. There is a game sound volume control on the right ear-cup, and an incoming-chat volume control, as well as a microphone mute switch on the left ear-cup. The headset cord is over 16 feet long, so it should cover most living room situations where you sit on the sofa and the TV/Xbox are located across the room at 8 to 12 feet away.
The sound from the headset is clear and loud without distortion. This is a closed type headphone, so it isolates your ears from outside sounds very well and bass performance is pretty good for this product class. Plantronics is a company known mainly for its line of professional and consumer headsets for telephones, cellphones, and PCs. The Plantronics Gamecom X40 lives up to the Plantronics name. In terms of performance, it does not disappoint, and is a good value.

Ear Force X11 Amplified Stereo Headset with Chat Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my X11s to improve my gameplay in Modern Warfare 2 and to play at night while my family is asleep. I am so glad that I did. They have accomplished both objectives with flying colors. The sound quality is excellent. I can hear absolutely everything, even the faintest sound cues I could never hear before. Just the ability to hear footsteps, the direction that they are coming and what they are walking on makes all the difference in multiplayer. Before ordering them, I read many reviews that mention a hiss when the headset is plugged in and was a bit worried that this might be an issue. There is a hiss, but it is so negligible that it isn't even worth listing as a con. Almost all the other reviews that I've read that mention this hiss also mention that you can't even hear it during gameplay. Doesn't that pretty much disqualify it as a con? Honestly, these things could play Home On The Range until I put my MW2 disc in the drive for all I care. There has to be absolute silence in the game in order to hear the hiss. As soon as any music or in game action starts, it is gone, in no way hindering your gaming experience. I also didn't have any problem hearing this hiss while using the X11s with my iPhone for music or YouTube. The ability to control both the game and chat volumes works very well. I've played several very long MW2 multiplayer sessions with friends and I haven't had any issues with my friends hearing me or vice versa. I love that when you raise the game volume, it automatically adjusts the chat volume so that the game audio doesn't drown it out. Which is a good thing, because these bad boys are loud as hell when you crank them up. I have literally jumped in my seat during unexpected explosions. The volume and quality of the sounds make for a very immersive gaming experience. They are also extremely comfortable. Most of the time, I can barely tell they are there, even when I've had them on hours at a time. My old headset sat right on my ears, which would make my ears very sore, very quickly. Overall, I have to give these a five out of five. For the price, they just can't be beat.

As some of you may have found, the adapter for the composite cables with the optical audio port is too fat to fit with an HDMI cable plugged in. I did some research and was tempted to go to town on the composite adapter with my Dremel, but then found this adapter for a very cheap price. I picked up an optical cable at a local electronics store, plugged in and now I have true Dolby Digital surround with full 1080 (you will have to go into your Xbox system and update the settings to realize the full capability of the HDMI).

Reasons:
#1. It is the most uncomfortable and painful thing I have ever put on my head.
#2. The voice quality is terrible.
#3. When I am not talking, it says I am because of HUGE amounts of feedback and noise.
#4. When the mic is muted, it says I am talking.
#5. It took about 2 weeks for it to arrive.
DO NOT BUY THIS. PAY THE 5 OR 10 MORE DOLLARS FOR THE MICROSOFT ONE, OR EVEN BETTER $60 TURTLE BEACHES. DO NOT BUY THESE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
P.S. I have had these for 1 day and I am ready to throw them against the wall. :P.

(More customer reviews)i'm sure my thought was the same as yours is now...wow what a good deal, and this has to be louder and better quality than the single ear microsoft headset...It is NOT. I was excited to find a good deal on a new both ear headset, but this one is garbage. I wasted the money i spent on it and i can't get it back because it technically does work...just very poorly. this headset not only is quieter, but it is uncomfortable to wear. it is too tight on your head. I do regret this purchase. Amazon has alot of great deals and I am a loyal customer to them, but always remember that you get what you pay for. Simply put, your microsoft headset is better than this one.
