Samurai Shodown Sen Review

Samurai Shodown Sen
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just got the game last week!
Impressions - It's a decent fighting game. You got a nice roster of 24 characters (many familiar Sam Shodown faces make their return) + 2 unlockables (Big Boss and Boss before Big Boss) and the usual variety of SNK (lol) fighting modes.
Combat seems to be both good and bad. Simple enough for anyone to get into and I don't see anything horribly unbalanced except for the second to last boss who uses a gun (when everyone is using swords you can obviously see the disadvantage here) but that's typical SNK cheap fashion for you. It's bad in the sense it doesn't entirely feel like a Sam Shodown game and more of a Tekken/Soul Calibur hybrid. Also, the heavy slash does do a stupid amount of damage yet at the same time leaves you wide open which I believe is pretty fair. Also, for some reason the standard throw in the game is the exact same for every single character in the game. That's not to say Hanzo doesn't have his own unique throws, because he does and they are pretty cool.
The single player consist of - A Story mode where you go through 7 fights including your everyday Big Boss, you get a explanation of what each character is going through via text and a Japanese voice over for that text.
Practice (Where you practice your moves of course!)
VS (Play against the CPU or your fortunate friend sitting next to you, or perhaps unfortunate?)
Survival (Keep doing till you lose. I believe theres an achievement for beating 23 people or more without dying.)
Online is pretty basic. For some reason theres a Party Chat option yet I believe the matches are only 1v1 with no group fighting (though I could be wrong, need more friends with the game to test this!). Theres Player Match and Ranked Match - and I don't see a option to choose the stage background, as it seems random. In Player Match you can select the boss characters but not in Ranked Match.
The best part about online? Theres no lag, at least from the six matches I played. However, there are very few people playing this game. I REPEAT - THERES NO LAG!
My wager? Well It's a 3d version of Sam Shodown, and doesn't exactly 100% feel like the old 2d games. I think It's worth a somewhat low amount if your into fighting games, but don't pay full price unless you think this is going to be rare or really have a love for SNK fighting games.
Overall Rating so far - 2 out of 5 stars at It's current price (3 stars for fun). Once it drops a bit or if it released at $30 or $40 I might have been inclined to give it 3 stars on a overall scale. Pick it up when It gets cheaper!
Compared to KOF12 this is still a better game thanks to lag free online competition and a much larger roster, along with slightly more single player options and an actual story for each character.

Major League Baseball 2K7 Review

Major League Baseball 2K7
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Wow, this game is incredible. I read on IGN that they gave it a 7.9/10. I don't know what game they're reviewing, because this game is fantastic. I might even say that MLB 2K7 on the Xbox 360 is the best sports game I've ever played on any console. I play mostly sports games, and this one has blown me away.
The graphics are possibly the best I've seen. They do use a little too much of the blur effect on the stadium when a batter walks to the plate, but I can live with that. The faces, animations, and stadiums all look ultra-realistic. When I can see individual skin pores on the face of Travis Hafner (I'm an Indians fan), I'm extremely impressed. You have to see this game to believe it, the visuals are great. The only downside to the graphics are the hideous crowd members. These people still look like they're caught in the PS2 or Xbox, oh well. I'm not really looking at the crowd when I'm playing the game, so I don't really care.
The audio is great. I love the combination of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. They might get repetitive eventually (like EVERY other sports game), but they don't annoy me when they're repetitive. They still accurately talk about the action on the field, it's just they're side-talk that gets repetitive. The menu music isn't great, but it's a lot better than previous versions. Also, the sounds of the bat, crowd, ball hitting the glove, and all other game-related sounds are fantastic. I feel like I'm watching a game on TV.
The gamplay is phenomenal. The controls are very smooth and responsive, I don't have a problem with them at all. This is the best controlling baseball game I've ever played, right up there with MVP 2005 and MLB '06: The Show. For anybody to complain about the gameplay of this game, they would have to be nitpicking to the extreme. "My runner hesitates for 1/4 second when he's rounding a bag." He's probably making sure it's safe to go. Honestly, anybody who complains about this game at all is [...], and looking for the smallest faults.
Overall, this is the sports game of the year, and one of (if not THE) best sports titles ever. I am extremely impressed with it, and I had high hopes. Just as a note, I bought this game for my Dad on the PS3, and he was instantly hooked. He has pretty much just played Tiger Woods and college football throughout the years. He loves this game, and has put his Tiger Woods to the side. If you've even thought about buying this game, you should do it whenever you have the money for it. I love it.

MotionSports: Play For Real Review

MotionSports: Play For Real
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
UPDATE: A small patch came in today, and the motion controls seem somewhat better, and difficulty appears somewhat tweaked.. esp. in boxing. There may be other fixes, but I'll up from 2-3 stars.
It seems that much like with the Wii launch some developers have made some inferior games to cash in. I would place Motionsports in this category.
There are some fun games in here so it's not a complete disaster. On the good side -
Skiing
Equestrian
Hanggliding
Football
are all decent although football and equestrian are almost "turn based" (seems as this was a design decision not a function of the hardware) as you must perform your move well before the motion actually happens which is odd since Skiing and hanggliding are both extremely responsive.
On the diaster/broken mechanics side I would place Boxing and Soccer. Boxing difficulty seems ridiculous. You can connect with many punches on just the second boxer after the "tutorial" boxer and if he hits you a couple of times you're going down. In soccer the setup for kicking the ball pretty much breaks the gameplay as it is extremely difficult to tell where exactly on your floor you need to kick. It does say "shoot" but only for a very brief moment.
There is also no online multiplayer (I believe there is in Microsoft sports) so the game gets a negative there.
Also, there is no broader game.. would be nice if they could have included some sort of party game setup so the minigames don't feel so detached.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent Limited Edition Review

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent Limited Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This fourth installment in the Splinter Cell series of games takes a radical change in direction from the previous three games. In the game you are Sam Fisher, an NSA operative who is given the task of infiltrating the JBA, or John Brown's Army, a terrorist organization.
Double Agent for the Xbox 360 uses a branching storyline that allows the gamer to make choices that ultimately affect the final outcome of the game. The previous games were more linear in their approach to accomplish goals. There are fewer 'levels' in Double Agent than in previous versions, but only because each level is much larger and there are multiple missions that occur on each level giving you the experience of a longer game.
You are given assignments or 'objectives' in the game, some of which must be completed at the time they are given, if you choose, and others can be done at various points throughout the game. This is accomplished by using a 'free roam' approach to some levels rather than limiting when and where the player can be at any given time. An example would be that you are asked to acquire information about the top members of the JBA, and you do so by locating records on them and getting retinal scans of their eyes. All of this can be done at any given time during the game as the opportunity arises.
The developers went all out to give the gamer plenty of 'eye candy' in the form of graphics. There are areas that have large groups of people, each with different characteristics whereas before they were limited to only a few characters. The level that is based on the city of Shanghai truly gives the look and feel of being there. The details are incredible, right down to the rain that falls on Sam's skin and clothing, acting as real rain would with those surfaces.
The only real let-down of this game is the way it ends abruptly without giving any continuity towards the next game or finalizing the series. You're just left wondering "so what happened?".
The online multiplayer mode, or 'Spy versus Upsilon', has many features that are very appealing to players new to the series, but leaves some hard core fans of this game wanting to return to the previous title's, Chaos Theory, 'Spy versus Merc' version of online play. UBI has removed many 'gadgets' that were previously available, forcing the spy to be more true to his calling by using stealth but at the same time losing something in the process. The user community seems to be split as to whether or not the multiplayer change is a good thing. For me it's better, but only because I was never good at the previous online game.
I give the Xbox 360 version of the game an 8.5 out of 10 rating.

Whisper Fan 360 Green Review

Whisper Fan 360 Green
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well there are some positives and some negatives to this fan...
POSITIVES
-Does seem a bit quieter. (don't forget to load your games to your hd for quieter operation.)
-Seamless installation. If you are at all familiar with the inside of your xbox than this will go in, in a minute or two.
-Although I cannot prove this, it seems to be pulling more air out of the box, so I assume more air circulation = cooler xbox.
NEGATIVES
-The LEDs look cheesy. If this kind of thing annoys you they really aren't that bright, and...
-The LEDs went dead within a few hours of running time. serendipitous, I know.
-Its still loud!!!
OVERALL
This a great product if you play a lot and are trying to keep your xbox a degree or two cooler, but there are so many fixes for the common problems(xclamp, pennies...) and unfortunately for the user I think when we get 3RROD or it starts freezing up we think its not getting enough air and replace the fan. Do your research, this is a neat mod for the light perverts but will probably not fix your xbox.

Reincarnation. An unusual philosophy if you are developing new products. But Talismoon knows what OEM fans want when they get reincarnated - to be better performing and better looking. The new Talismoon Whisper Xbox 360 Replacement Fan moves 58% more air than the original, yet is 7% quieter. And the green lights are enough to seduce any Xbox 360 into doing something it definitely won't regret in the morning. Let your Xbox 360 hear the secrets of a new Whisper. You must open your Xbox to install this fan. Please be aware that this ia a case mod product. It required you to open your xbox 360. Opening the XBOX 360 will void your warranty.
