Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition Review

Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, I'm no hardcore gamer. I just happened to be browsing some gaming magazine when the ad got me. Being a big fan of the comics, I decided to give it a try. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want to be able to pair up Spidey with Iceman and The Human Torch and whoever catches your fancy? And the game delivers a lot of punch in many ways. The difference between this game and the normal edition is this edition comes with 8 extra characters that are already available as xb live downloadable content.
GAMEPLAY: Campaign mode is pretty straightforward. You can walk through the entire thing and it makes for a lot of gametime. It is kind of reminiscient of the Ninja Turtle series from back in the 90's where you pretty much follow a straight map (except in this case, there are some side rooms that you can explore in each level), kill some enemies, get to a minor boss, kill more enemies, then get to the final boss. Obviously, you have to expect the occasional roadblock - 'What am I going to do to get past this flaming doorblock?' situations where simple puzzles can come in play, but overall, getting through levels is a sort of linear kind of thing. The whole game probably takes about 18-25hrs to beat on normal. But then you won't necessarily unlock all the superheroes and costumes and whatnot. The side simulator missions are also a lot of fun and add an extra leveling up element to the game, so I guess that's what keeps you going. You unlock hard mode after beating normal once. Very replayable game, I've already beaten the story at least 4 times across three difficulty levels. GRADE: A
THE RPG ELEMENT: Activision markets this as an action/rpg game, and while there is lots of action (as I mentioned, the Ninja Turtle game flashback it brought me), there are elements of RPG. Whenever you pick up 'money' on the map and level up, you can spend points leveling up character skills and abilities. The items you equip your characters with will also matter in the same way. The system is rather straightforward and being my first game from the 'series' (apparently this is the successor to some XMen Legends game?), it did not take me long to learn about where this element kicks in. GRADE: A
THE CO-OP ELEMENT: Co-op is awesome and I definitely prefer that to playing alone. You can team up with 1-3 of your friends for some 2-4 player co-op. xb Live allows for some smooth gameplay even while online. While camera views can be annoying at times, you can easily tell that the programmers put a lot of time into making co-op gameplay here really smooth. One weird thing about this though, with comic missions, the main character is controlled by one player and enemies which are, surprise surprise, not controlled by the AI if you've been playing co-op. Kind of eliminates that whole challenge feel to it if you look at it in one way. GRADE: A+
GRAPHICS: Almost comical. Not as in funny comical, but as in like the comic books. Graphics looked much better than on a PS2, but still there were some problems. Heck, the cinematics looked awesome. But for the most part, gameplay graphics were pretty tight. I found some of the animations rather sorry, like the lime green-ness, almost-to-the-state-of-previous-gen-ness of the Fin Fang Foom, but other than that, I really don't have much complaints. So don't expect Gears of War graphics here. GRADE: B+
STORY: Any game that can capture the essence of every superhero's personality while at the same time painting this captivating story as it unravels gets my props. Although sometimes, in the middle of a mission, the small things that go wrong that you and your group must fix up, these things can make you lose sight of the big picture. GRADE: B+
COMPLAINTS:
- Dialogue is kind of key in this game for the most part. At times dialogue pops up in the worst time (immediately after a fight) such that I found me or one of my friends mistakenly hitting the 'continue' button (A) right through the dialogue as if the fight was still going on (A = the attack button).
- Reviving characters: So in battle, if one of your group gets KO'ed, there's a resting period. When the resting period is over, a message pops up saying that the character of interest is fully rested, but instead of letting him/her pop out just as if to rejoin the group, you always have to get to some save point to activate that character again.
---
Once again, being not that hardcore of a gamer, I can't really say much in the way of in-depth game reviews. But here's the bottom line:
- This game is definitely one to be played co-op. My brother and I grew up playing these types of games and having hours and hours of fun together with these (heh... Ninja Turtles).
- Don't get this if you're looking for straight RPG. True, there is an RPG element, but not as much in the way of world-exploration and stuff that have surrounded some of the world's best RPGs.
- This game is mission-based, with different levels separated into 5 acts that will load from your home base. Think Splinter Cell or soldier FPS games where you have one level, side missions that pop up when things screw up, and then an overall mission goal that must be beaten for you to return to home base.

Xbox 360 Intercooler 360 - Black Review

Xbox 360 Intercooler 360 - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had purchased the original Intercooler for my 360 last year. Initially, it worked like a charm, keeping the system cool to the touch. After awhile, my console started having issues. Thinking it may have been a defective unit, I swapped it out and got another one. In almost the same time frame, the second console started having problems. The only constant was the Intercooler. Save yourself some grief. Buy a USB powered laptop cooling pad. I use an Antec one that is frequently on sale for $10. It works like a charm and doesn't harm the 360.
--Some analysis for those who care--
First, an observation. On several units, plugging in the intercooler caused the CD tray to open poorly. It was sluggish and sometimes didn't open up completely. Unplugging the intercooler immediately fixed the issue.
Thinking about the design, it makes sense why my console was failing.
1. The extra device was under-volting the 360. Anyone who has taken high school physics knows that a fan can be simplified as a resistor. By putting an extra resistor between the 360 and the power supply, you are creating an unexpected voltage drop before the power even gets into the 360. Less voltage = less power.
2. The 360 is a computer, not an appliance. It has a motherboard, drives, and all that fancy stuff. Inside a computer, power goes into 2 places: motherboard and drives. Drives are fairly tollerant to power fluctuations. Hence, you can put fans and other devices in the same power line as a hard drive or optical drive without too much issue (up to a point). The motherboard and all components on it, are far more sensitive to fluctuations. Therefore, power coming in first runs through a regulator on the motherboard. These regulators expect a certain amount of voltage and current. Power that comes out of these regulators is clean and at the right amount. By reducing the amount of power going into the regulators, not enough power can be supplied to the components, causing damage. Ultimately, this can lead to failure
3. While the power supply is rated for 203 watts, anyone who has built a computer knows that the rating usually means the peak power the supply can put out. The constant output is typically lower than that. Under no circumstances should the power supply be constantly run at the peak power (unless explicitly stated, like an Antec TruPower). Given this, the supply can easily supply the ~180 watts necessary for 360 peak performance. It can probably safely supply somewhere up to 185-190 watts. Any more than that and the supply will become unstable if constantly asked for that load.
Misconception that I've seen all over: "The 360 can power all these extra devices like battery chargers and wired controllers, why shouldn't it be able to handle a couple fans?"
Reason: The issue isn't if the 360 can handle it, but rather where the fans are placed. All of the peripherals for the 360 are powered by USB, which runs through the motherboard. This means the power is drawn from the board and through the voltage regulator on the board. The board controls where the power is sent. USB power is a standard, and each port is rated for a certain amount. If the draw on a port exceeds the rated amount or there is a short, it shuts off to protect the other components. An external device bypasses all regulation and safety measure.

Xbox 360 Real Arcade Pro. EX-SE Review

Xbox 360 Real Arcade Pro. EX-SE
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own two MadCatz Tournament Edition Fight Sticks with Sanwa parts for the PlayStation 3. I bought this stick for 2 reasons: it's easier to dual mod when you start with 360 and go to PlayStation and because I had no experience with Seimitsu controls before. At first I was very underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, the construction of the HRAP is top notch, and always has been. The Seimitsu buttons looked cheap and seemed weird. However, playing is believing.
The Seimitsu joystick is much tighter than a Sanwa, as it has less movement in any direction. I actually prefer this, especially for quick and difficult movements in Street Fighter IV. The buttons also turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise. Sanwa buttons register very quickly, but continue to travel downward, which always seemed a little mushy to me - especially after growing up playing American arcade cabinets with clicky concave Cherry micro-switches. The Seimitsu buttons are a nice middle ground between the Sanwa and the American-style buttons: they're a little clicky and don't seem to travel as far, resulting in a much firmer, precise feeling.
All of this is just personal preference. The Hori Real Arcade Pros are very well built, and I prefer the overall case construction to the MadCatz Tournament Edition. If you're going to end up swapping out a "lesser" HRAP with Seimitsu buttons, this version sames you time, and definitely money. Even if you're thinking of replacing with Sanwa, give this a try if you've never touched Seimitsu before (and are curious): it's more cost effective in the long run.
I've even toyed with the idea of replacing the Sanwa parts in my MadCatz TE. I have been converted.

All Pro Football 2K8 Review

All Pro Football 2K8
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, I am not a 2K fan boy, and DEFINTELY not a Madden fanboy. Know that this is my FIRST 2K football game ever. I never got a chance to play NFL 2K5 as I was still playing Madden/NCAA 03 at the time. After being disappointed with Madden/NCAA for the 2003 release I skipped over the 04 and 05 editions, and because it was so late in the season I decided to skip NFL 2K5 as well, planning on getting NFL 2K6 the following year, but EA changed that and I was stuck with the EA football titles for the foreseeable future. I decided to give EA one last chance, and they failed again with Madden/NCAA 06. At this point I decided I was done with EASports and since they had the monopoly I figured I was done with football games for good.
Then 3 years later 2K decides to get back in the football gaming market and I was very excited, finally a choice in football gaming again and true football fans wouldn't have to be stuck with EA's monopoly.
I picked this game up recently, in fact a couple of days before I got my XBOX back from Microsoft. I was finally able to play one game last night, and I must say I am pretty impressed.
When you first start up the game, you are instantly prompted to build you own team, there are no predefined teams on this game so every team you use, you have to create them from scratch. You are allowed 2 Gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze rated former NFL players to build you team. The rest of the team is filled by generic players. You have over 240 former NFL players most of them being all-stars during their careers. Some notable names include Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Steve Young, John Elway, Reggie White, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Williams "Refrigerator" Perry. While you might recognize many of the names included in this years release, you will also notice some missing, some right of the top of my head are Howie Long, Michael Irvin and Jim Kelly. That is not to say the list provided is disappointing, 240 players is plenty especially considering 2K had to individually sign these players.
After you select your players and choose the generic players to fill you team, you are taken to a screen to select your city, team nickname, logo, and stadium and after your done, you then go into actually editing your teams uniforms all the way down to how many stripes the players' socks will have and the color of their shoes, helmets and face masks. You can even change the colors of the team's logo. There are tons and tons of different combinations you can choose and this can be very long and drawn out considering how much you care about how your team uniforms (home and away) look on the field, but the game already has predefined color schemes so if you just want to get to the action, you can skip this all together. If you do decide to edit your team, then just know the menu is very cumbersome and admittedly not very intuitive as it should be. In fact it took me a while to figure out how to change my team's helmet colors from white to black.
After your team is created it is saved and you are ready to go. You are then taken to the game's main screen where you can either choose to play a quick exhibition game against one of the computer created teams or go into season mode. I just wanted a quick game so I just choose a quick match in my home stadium.
The first thing you will notice about the game that these are not truly Next Gen graphics. Even in HD at best they look slightly better than HD regular XBOX games. But believe me there is much more to a game than jaw dropping graphics, and I found that out after the ball was kicked off in my very first game. As soon as the ball was kicked off I knew that this was going to be a football game like none other I have experienced before. First off the players move realistically. I hadn't noticed and robotic like movements of them running like they are trying to make it to the bathroom before they have an accident. The tackling animations are also quite more realistic than I have seen in other games. There is real gang tackling here and not anything like the "hey, I'm going to hold you, while my teammate comes and hits you" crap. There are no sled animations or seeing receivers skate to the ball either. Even the sidelines have animated players that react to plays on the field and attempt to get out of the way if they see a player out of control flying towards them. Other times, they'll step in and grab him to stop his momentum.
The game plays like football is supposed to be played. No longer can you back up 30 yards and throw 80 yard bombs all day, because chances are you will be sacked or more often than not your pass will be knocked down if you're lucky. Your linemen block who they are supposed to block and don't miss an obvious block just so they can go block a free safety 15 yards away who is not even in the play to begin with. On the defensive end of the ball players react well to both the run and pass. Don't expect 20+ yard runs on every single possession, if you do manage to get a long gain you better believe the D will adjust incase you try that crap on the very next play. In the running game you have WORK for your yardage, you have to find the hole and hit it hard. If you just dance around in the back field you WILL get your bell rung. Take a hole and go for it. Passing is also quite realistic and very rewarding when you complete a long pass play on 3rd and long. The defense reacts pretty well to the ball and will knock it down if they can't quite get two hands on it. If you throw in double coverage too often you will pay for it, if your throw is too late or too early the D will knock it down. As good as the AI is on both sides of the ball, I never got the feeling that it was "cheating" like other games I have played in the past. I remember in the said game, I would be running for a first down, clearly beating the defender and all of a sudden he makes a dive for me at the wrong angle and then while in MIDAIR, he body changes direction just so he can stop me; this is not the case in APF2K8, if you have a man beat you have him beat, and the only thing he can hope for is that he has enough foot speed to catch you. Another thing I used to hate on the "other" game is that when my defender had the perfect angle on a guy going towards the end zone and I will dive towards him clearly expecting at least some contact between my defender and the ball carrier only the have the game take over and cause my guy to dive in the complete opposite direction of the ball carrier. I can't tell you how frustrating that was! But that is no longer the case in this game, if you have an angle and time your hit right, you will at least make contact with the ball carrier getting him to go down is another story if you are dealing with the bruiser gold/silver/bronze star RB's.
Another thing I like about the game is that the halftime show shows actual video highlights from the game you are playing and the same is true for the post game show. While the commentators start getting repetitive after a while, its still good to go back and see the big plays of the game without having to rely on your saved replays all the time. Other things I like about the game are the stadium mascots that do various things after the home team makes a big play, if you are the Assassins and score a touch down, the giant hooded "assassin" at the end zone will perform a stabbing motion, if you are the Firebirds the bird will squawk and flap its wings, there is even one team that has two battle ships that shoot off its cannons! In addition to this the crowd always seems to be in the game, you make a big play they respond with ecstatic cheering, if you make a stupid play, then you will get booed....loudly. Another final thing I would like to mention is that if your XBOX is online while you are playing a game, you will get up to date sports tickers from the real world of sports. Even though it really does not add to the game you are playing its still a cool feature. It's nice always being in touch with the real sports world while I'm playing video games.
As much as I like the actual game, there are handful of flaws that are disappointing and one that is downright frustrating. First of all if you already didn't know, there is no franchise mode. So the team you create for offline play can only go through one season and that's it. No continuing to a next season, and no tracking career stats etc. The most you can do is take that same team though the same team again with a slightly different scheduled, or just create another team all together. In addition the Season mode itself is pretty limited. There is not even an ability to "watch" other games that your team is not playing in, and even more, you can only bring ONE of your created teams into season mode. This was a disappointment, especially for someone who primarily plays offline 99% of the time. I've tried online play before with other games, and if you have read my last reviews you will see that I am not a big fan of online play, playing people I don't know, most of who are cheesers, whiners and glitchers. The only time I will play someone online, is if I know them in real life. The lack of franchise mode bothered me, but not enough not to get this game. I have always heard 2K made the best football games, and if APF was anything like the NBA 2K series, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed in the game play. The other limitation is a big one, even bigger than the lack of franchise mode in many ways. You are only limited to creating 8 teams in the game, meaning that at any one time you only have 8 teams to choose from as you can't play with any of the CPU's teams. This is not a big problem in itself, because I would have expected some sort of limitation on the amount of teams you could create. However,...Read more›

This is a must have with your 360 and a controller. And in black to match your Elite controllers.
You can plug it in via USB to your Xbox 360 and charge the included battery pack while you play your game.
You can also remove your battery pack, and plug the cable directly to your 360 for wired gaming (so your controller won't shut off while you are in the middle of that hired driver Forza race.
This charges via any USB port on your 360, your computer, your cable box, or your dog (if he has included USB hub).
I recommend buying one of these, then buying the Quick Charge Kit. Then you'll have 2 battery packs, the quick charge dock, and a USB charge cable.

Xbox 360 Console 2008 Review

I've been waiting and waiting to buy a 360 until this holiday season in hopes that the package was good. Unfortunately I'm stuck with Kung Fu Panda, and Lego Indiana Jones. While they are fun, I much would have rather had Forza 2 and Marvell:UA. However, I did buy it on the Monday of Thanksgiving and got The Last Remnant and a 4000pt Xbox card with it from Amazon. Great Deal!!
If you are trying to decide which Xbox 360 system to buy, there are a couple things to consider: Hard Drive, connectivity, and network.
For me, new owner, the first thing was the large 120gb HDD. I'm a moderately hardcore gamer, and don't want to have to think twice about space left on my hard drive. However, now there is the 60gb version which should be great for most people. But if you look at the price of the 120gb HDD alone ($150), the Elite is a much better deal.
The HDMI output was the second major deciding factor for me as I wanted the best possible picture from my games and movies. Plus my TV has more HDMI ports than component cable connections.
Also, right now the Xbox Live network is by far the strongest online gaming network. The others might and probably will catch up in the future, but right now Xbox live is the top online gaming network. So being able to play online with family and friends right now was important. Not many people have a PS3, which means that A: play games offline, or online by yourself; or B: make new online friends in a small gaming network. I chose the Xbox.
As a side note: I assumed that since the new chips, Jasper, have been around for a month that the new holiday bundles would have had them, but they didn't. Mine was manufactured in April, which is the Falcon.
If you are unsure about the Elite compared to the 60gb Pro, compare your choices here:

Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor 10 MB of embedded DRAM. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games in standard TV definition, and even better thanks to built-in support for HDTV 1080i televisions. It also supports the widescreen 16:9 format.

The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage this console package includes a 120GB hard drive. Along with storing files, the hard drive will make the Xbox 360 backward-compatible with part of the existing Xbox game library.

Control your Gameplay Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos and songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. Xbox 360 can accommodate up to four wireless controllers and has three USB 2.0 slots to use for wired controllers or for streaming your digital media from digital cameras, MP3 players, and any Windows XP-based PC. Microsoft has also created a video-conferencing camera, sold separately, that will work with the system.

The Media Experience

All Xbox 360 titles can be played in either standard or high-definition resolution in 16:9 widescreen, with anti-aliasing for smoother graphics. Game designers will be able to take advantage of the system's multi-channel surround sound. The Xbox 360's digital media allows users to supplement any game's music from tracks in their own personal library.

Go Live

A built-in Ethernet port allows users to connect their system to a broadband connection for access to the new Xbox Live Silver. The included service lets anyone create a Gamertag and gamer card to express your online identity, chat live with voice chat, and connect to the Xbox Live Marketplace to buy expansions, maps, and other digital items for your games. The subscription service Xbox Live Gold adds to that online competition, game stats, and video chat/messaging. The separately sold wireless adapter supports the common 802.11a, -b, and -g standards.

Xbox 360 Console Review

Xbox 360 Console
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am extremely picky about any hardware I use. Having owned both models of the PS3 and a few Xbox 360s (that I bought and sold over time) I have pretty high expectations. Personally I think Xbox live is much better then PSN which is why I jumped from PS3 back to Xbox. My big issue was the hardware. Microsoft took care of a big issue by allowing users to burn their games to the hard drive. However, the fan noise on my Xbox Elite was still driving me crazy. Now my Elite wasn't broken, my ears just seem to attune to the noise they make. It especially drove me crazy when playing games like Puzzle Quest or when browsing the dash board. In this case the PS3 fat and slim where hands down superior (hardware build wise). But like many a fans I put up with the crappy build quality for the sake of a better interface and of course my friends list.
Now onto the new Xbox 360. Let me just say that for once I am very proud of Microsoft. They seem to have taken all the complaints from users and fixed them. This is the system they should have released long ago. The very first thing I noticed is how silent this machine is. Even after running for over an hour you can barely hear the fan. I would go as far as to say it's even more silent then the PS3 slim (which I found to be louder then the fat model). The new Xbox has a strange but cool new look. I don't understand why people are complaining that it is a finger print magnet. How often do you really touch your system once it's in place? The buttons on the front are now touch sensitive instead of pressing them in, and make a cool noise I must say. I'm happy to say that even my disc drive is quite. It's almost as quite running a disc as the fans on my Elite were. There are no old school memory card ports, but they upped the USB ports to 5. 2 on the front and 3 in the back. The new 250GB hard drive is removable. There is a button on the right side vent that you can press and remove the plate. The hard drive is in a special case but it's easier to move. The only downside to this is the people that take their hard drives to their friends house, but this can be fixed by using a USB drive now.
The controller is pretty much the same as the Elites plus a couple changes. The bottom portion of the controller that was gray shaded is now a shiny black and the Xbox button is shiny chrome. All in all goes will with the package. The ear cushion on the headset is also now black instead of grey. Microsoft also has a picture of a black chat pad and wireless headset on the box for the new 360. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a black controller charger.
To close, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. It's a worthy upgrade and one that shows Microsoft is actually listening for once. Also for those planning to get Kinect there is a dedicated port so on the new system which will let you use the camera with one less cable.

HDMI 1080P CABLE FOR XBOX 360 WITHOUT HDMI PORT Review

HDMI 1080P CABLE FOR XBOX 360 WITHOUT HDMI PORT
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is a complete waste of money. Do not get suckered into purchasing it in hopes that you can get true 1080p on a first generation 360 model. This device will merely only convert an image and upscale it, you will not be getting a true 1080p signal. Alongside the fact that the wire is poorly made and very thin, it will break easily. Except in my case, the whole thing stopped working entirely literally one day after I used it. The price is not justifiable for what the product does, you are honestly better off with component cables.

Xbox 360 Hybrid eXtreme Uniclamp(TM) X-Clamp Repair kit - Official xboxexperts.com version Review

Xbox 360 Hybrid eXtreme Uniclamp(TM) X-Clamp Repair kit - Official xboxexperts.com version
Average Reviews:

It does take a minimal amount of drilling the metal casing, but it is only to widen the eight holes that allow the bolts through to the heat sinks. Other than that, it is extremely user-friendly and if you already have a drill and bit set, you are ready to rock and roll. I just did the Hybrid Extreme Uniclamp fix about 4 days ago and my XBox has been running great ever since! No more RRoD. I had previously used the penny fix and patched or masked the problem for about 2-3 months, but about 3 weeks ago the RRoD error was back and unwilling to be brushed off so easily. I gave this box one last chance before spending the $200 on a new XBox (which was starting to sound really good), but i'm glad I spent the $20 bucks instead to save this one. Do yourself a favor and spend 1/10th of the price to keep your current machine. It really does address some of the glaring original engineering problems and makes sense as to why it helps fix the box. 5 Stars, highly recommend for the price.

Xbox 360 Hybrid eXtreme Uniclamp(TM) X-Clamp Repair kit - Official xboxexperts.com version
Nicknamed the "Extreme" version of "Team HYBRID's Ultimate X-Clamp Fix"(cc). We feel this is the most complete/advanced xbox 360 fix to date.Fix common 3 RROD problems while cooling chips almost as much as a 12v fan mod, but without the noise.(up to 6C drop).Developed over the past 2-3 years at xbox-experts.com in collaboration with our forum members and tested on thousands of consoles worldwide with great success.

Visit http://xbox-experts.com/hybrid for the complete install tutorial we developed.

Drilling is required for the screws to fit and we recommend a "step bit" or unibit drill bit for easy drilling into the metal.

Xbox 360 Charge Station 360 - Black Review

Xbox 360 Charge Station 360 - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I read reviews on the white version of this product for the standard Xbox 360, and most of them were quite bad.
I will say I just received this product, so this review is not made after long-term testing. HOWEVER, the issues made with the other version of this product were generally "out of the box" issues with LED's not lighting, the charger not properly charging batteries, and the batteries not working in the controllers.
I had none of these problems when I opened this package and set everything. The charger has multi-led's which show red when charging, green when "almost charged," and they go out when the batteries are ready. I put both batteries in right away and plugged the unit it. Both lights blinked through the settings, then went red. After about 3 hours, both lights were out. I snapped a battery into the controller and proceeded to game throughout the day without any issues. I'm anxious to see how long they'll hold a charge.
I was a little concerned with fit and finish - they seemed a smidge tight to snap into the controller, but not enough to worry me. Hopefully these will work out just fine.
If I can edit or add a review after further testing, I'll be sure to do so.UPDATE - December 3rd, 2008.
I've now had these for almost exactly one year. I'm sure if I compared usage to a year ago, I might realize that the batteries don't last quite as long between chargings, but honestly I don't realize it - if that's even true. I feel like I charge them more often now, but I also play more often now - so it's probably the same.
These have held up VERY well - have gone flying a few times (while still attached to a controller, of course) and are still playing away. I've replaced two controllers - still have the same batteries!
If and when these things ever wear out, I'll be looking for another set.

Xbox 360 Wireless Halo 3 Spartan Controller Review

Xbox 360 Wireless Halo 3 Spartan Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This device works the same as all previous Xbox 360 controllers only with more attractive graphics on the front. Only die hard Halo fans need apply. What do you get for an extra $10? just the pretty looks and a little plastic army man (Okay, it is Spartan 117). I was disappointed that it did not come with the rechargeable battery for the extra money which is the reason for the lower review however, it is still a rock solid product and is recommended for the fanboy in us all.

Forza Motorsport 2 Review

Forza Motorsport 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're looking for a great racing sim along the lines of the Gran Turismo series, with the in-depth customization aspects of your car's appearance found in the NFS: Underground series, and the online options of the PGR series...then Forza 2 comes highly recommended. It really is a nice combo of those games(ironically, i don't know how well it compares with its direct sibling Forza 1 cause i never played it).Anyway, the graphics are quite good and more importantly the framerates are 60fps-smooth, which are very important for racing games(esp racers where you drive in a pack). The customization options are extensive and it has been amazing going to websites and seeing what everyone has accomplished by using these comprehensive tools to enhance their cars visually. By itself, this aspect of the game could keep you busy for hrs on end at a time (esp if you have an artistic touch). As for the racing, it's easy to get into as it allows you to customize the difficulty level at anytime during the game which makes it a more pick-up-and-play game than most other racing sims i would think. You can make the game as challenging or as easy as you want, but either way you can earn/access stuff pretty quickly.Overall, i'm not much into the "GT vs PGR vs Forza" wars or "PS3 vs 360" battle, but if you enjoy racing sims(esp with all the options mentioned above and more) then i highly recommend you at least give Forza 2 a shot. It might not make you forget about all other racing sims, but it will definitely keep you busy in the long haul. All i know is i bought it, playing it quite a bit, and enjoying it quite a lot. (4 1/2 stars)

Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia Review

Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like this title suggests, I bought this game used. Which I'm glad I didn't pay full price for, because it would be a rip off.
If you want a cheap game multiplayer game to waste some time between good game releases, then this is a game for you. You can play co-op with up to 4 people online as well.
Levels get very repetitive. Easier setting is no fun with limited fun items. The catch is you have to play harder settings for the chance to find find items like amulets that change you into monsters. But the hard setting is no fun either, you're constantly looking for ammo and health.
Another thing that sucks is you can't save when you want and can only do so at save points.
Finally one thing that irked me tremendously: If you accidentally exit a game, not only do you lose your current progress, but your ENTIRE GAME PROGRESS. It happened to us, and lost everything. The game was basically reset. We just past the second level, so it could have been worse.

Project Gotham Racing 4 Review

Project Gotham Racing 4
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Some racing games are a little too sim for me, like Gran Turismo and Forza. I don't care about adjusting gear ratios.
Some racing games are a little too arcade for me, like Burnout.
Some racing games just aren't my style, like the NFS street racing games of the last few years. I don't want to lower my car and get a huge wing on my Eclipse.
I still enjoy those racing games, but for me, PGR 4 (and PGR 3) is a perfect combination of simulation and arcade racing. The feel is "sim" enough to require a lot of practice to get really good, but forgiving enough to be fun from the start. The graphics are fantastic, the online play is great, and even the music is diverse and entertaining.
Also, You can drive amazing cars from the beginning, unlike GT, Forza, and NFS. I don't like being stuck with a Mazda Miata for the first few days. I see a lot of Miata's in real life. This is a videogame. I want to drive a Ferrari.
Get this game if you're looking for a great all-around racing game.

Tenchu Z Review

Tenchu Z
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have played all the Tenchu games.
The two shining moments of the franchise are when it was originally released (Tenchu Stealth Assassins) and when it first appeared on the PS2 (Tench Wrath of Heaven).
Pros:
- The graphics and motion capture are improved.
- There is a greater degree of customizability.
- For a Tenchu fan, the fact that Tenchu lives on the next-gen platform is a plus.
Cons:
- Some reviewers have said that the game is repetitive. Others have countered by saying that a game like God of War or Metal Gear Solid is repetitive. The reason Tenchu Z feels so much more repetitive is because there is excessive reuse of locales, whereas in God of War for example, the locales are different with each new level. There is no reason for this, other than lack of time or, more likely budget- because if you look at every other Tenchu game, there has never been a repeated locale in a story thread. In this game you play through the same village, castle, whatever several times. After the 2nd time you've just about had enough.
- One of the things that made the original Tenchu game so interesting and challenging was that the enemies' ninjas would also hang out on the roofs. In this game, staying on the roof and crouching generally means that no one can reach you. None of the characters seem to climb them, even low roofs.
- There is no notion of a boss after each level. This is sad because the boss was yet another element that made the other Tenchus interesting.
As a fan I am glad that Tenchu lives on in the next-gen platform. But I feel somewhat cheated by Tenchu Z's lack of content as compared to previous Tenchus.

Tenchu Z returns you to ancient Japan as you master the secret arts of the Ninja. Take on 50 stealth ninja missions, as you build up your chosen character. You'll follow orders from Rikimaru, star of the previous Tenchu games, as you collect weapons and build Ninja skills. Patience and strategic thinking will pay off -- true Ninja mastery only comes with keen use of sound, sight and smell detection as you learn new moves and obtain new weapons. The new stealth kill system reward strategy and skill over the usual "run and gun" fighting. Also four-player cooperative play through Xbox Live.
