I personally think its a really good idea to hook it up to your computer so your xbox 360 wont get stressed out or over heated in other words and your 360 will last longer.

This is WRONG. Connect your controller via charge kit, turn off the console using the console's on/off button (NOT the controller's off feature). Your charge kit should have a red light while charging, green when done. If it doesn't, go exchange it, or try reconnecting it.Myth #3: You need to connect to an Xbox360 to charge it.

Gave it a 4 star because the light on the charger is pretty bright (I have it covered) and when charging (while light is red), it makes a buzzing sound but it goes away when its done charging (when light is green).

(More customer reviews)I picked this combo power kit because it was the deal of the day and I thought it'd be a descent performer considering the cost... Well I should have just put down the extra 10 bucks to get the Official Microsoft quick charge kit because the batteries are made of a casing design that is too large for the controller that I think it may have created a crack on one my controller because the batteries have to be placed in so tight. Additionally, the charger dock does not allow for charging of the official microsoft batteries unless extra pressure is placed on top so that the metal connectors touch (this is probably due to the oversided nature of the nyko kit).
I would advise anyone, unfortunately, pay the extra money for the official charge kit or use generic AA rechargable batteries instead of this harmful product. For me, the batteries and charge station is in the trash, but I'm keeping the play and charge cord piece - i hope that'll work right.

(More customer reviews)Works really well for how cheap it is, definitely worth it. I like that you don't have to constantly change the batteries. The only thing is that you have to have the Xbox turned on to actually charge it, it lights up when plugged in but doesn't charge unless turned on.

(More customer reviews)The cord is about 5 feet long. Unless you want to sit right in front of the TV when playing your games, buy a different version. Xbox makes one of these themselves with a cord that is actually a useful length. It would have been nice to know the length of the cord before I bought this. It was pretty disappointing when I unwrapped the cord and saw how short it was. I would buy the real Xbox version of this and spend a few extra dollars to get something more useful.

Not only that, it doesn't include a charge pack so you are left buying one on your own. If either of the above doesn't matter to you, then this product is great. If it does, then go with the original Play & Charge kit that has a really long cord and with a charge pack.

I never have to buy batteries for at least a year or two (assuming normal rechargeable life) and I can charge while I play, or when I want to keep my Xbox 360 off I can just charge it in my laptop's USB input. As far as the Play and Charge Kit is concerned...
This is a must have with your 360 and a controller.
You can plug it in via USB to your Xbox 360 and charge the included battery pack while you play your game.
You can also remove your battery pack, and plug the cable directly to your 360 for wired gaming (so your controller won't shut off while you are in the middle of that hired driver Forza race.
This charges via any USB port on your 360, your computer, your cable box, or your dog (if he has included USB hub).
I recommend buying one of these, then buying the Quick Charge Kit. Then you'll have 2 battery packs, the quick charge dock, and a USB charge cable.
As far as the controller is concerned, it's a great color, and is your typical xbox 360 controller otherwise. Great ergonomics and fits in your color scheme whether you have the black or white console.
