(More customer reviews)I'm not sure what I was expecting with this game, but I went in very skeptical. However, given the price and the fact that I LOVE football I decided to try it. It's not bad! As a matter of fact, it's quite good! This may very well be a sleeper hit. I hope more people notice this game, because I could barely find any information on it at all prior to picking it up. I just got it on the strength of loving football games. This beats the pants off of a good number of football games that have come before it. For every FIFA game there is a FIFA Street 3 that wishes it could be good. This game DOES compete with the big boys, at least quietly behind the scenes. Give this little known gem a chance. It's worth every minute you'll sink into it.

FIFA Soccer 07 Review

(More customer reviews)I am an avid soccer enthusaist, so when i purchased the Xbox 360 i awaited eagerly for the arrival of a soccer game worthy of the next Gen, Fifa however not only dropped the ball, but they stood on it, sat on it then let all the rest of the air out until anything fun about playing soocer on a console was flat and dull.
The first things I noticed was the lack of teams, the earlier reviewer was right, only 6 leagues, many countries have been left out much to my dissapointment, one of Fifas attributes was the fact it was licenced with all the leagues and teams throughout Europe and beyond, now we are left with a meagre 6 leagues, so immediately that killed a lot of my enthusiasm.
The gameplay still isn't there, the atmosphere feels very linear, not helped by only 4 camera angles, another let down...Then comes the skill levels, there is a huge difference between amature play amd semi pro, so much so in fact you'll be in limbo for a long time. The realism of players colliding is absurd as you find 2 players going for the ball at the same time simply bump off each other knocking them back a few paces, now call me cynical but i have yet to watch a soccer game were two opponents going for the same ball butt chests and take a few steps back before going back in...which actually leads me to my next point.
Tackling a major part of the game is devoid due to the fact every slide tackle you try to do will more than likely automatically give away a free kick or penalty 90% of the time, so that button is immediately withdrawn from my thumb as a useless tatic and addition, leaving only the X bottom to put your foot out the steal the ball.
The players likeness is left the imagination of someone who I can only assume has never seen any footballers in real life because most players don't have any or much similarity between the real life player and it's gaming counterpart.
The commentary on the other hand was great, Peter Brackley and Andy Gray cough up some good dialogue that isn't repetituve and one of the few points that actually adds to the game lacking nearly every other aspect of soccer.
There is no training mode to work out moves and practice special moves, which isn't really a problem cause there are very few special moves anyway and the spare right thumb control stick doesn't do anything helpful or special except stare lonely at you wishing it had a function in the game.
Overall this game has gotten worse over the last few years, but this years version has to be without doubt the worst yet. I have traded my game in already and I am waiting patiently on Winning soccer to make it's debut sometime in Feburary, from previous experience Winning Soccer has better gameplay, more moves and now it has more leagues than Fifa's poultry 6.
Please rent this game before buying, if after a few weeks your still playing it's probably for you and you can go out and buy it, but for all others a week is usally enough before you get to the point of sighing heavily hitting eject, getting back in your car with game in hand looking for a trade in.
Get back on track Fifa, you used to make really good soccer games, what Happened??

Vancouver 2010 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Winter Games Review

They state there are 14 events, but really that is hardly true, there is downhill skiing/snowboarding (lumped into one since the snowboarding is virtually identical to the skiing....really), Toboggan/luge/skeleton(again all one in the same on this game), Ski long jump (basically wait 12 seconds for the load time and then compete for about 10 seconds), speed skating(actually the only decently thought out and executed event). That is it...4 events really. You begin by being able to select your country, but it makes no difference who you choose. What they should have done is include a lot more events, and made all the countries a little different in the proficiences in each event and then had you compete in each type of event. Not at all what they did, you simply pick the event you want to compete in, and try to place. There is no record keeping of cumulative medals won vs other countries, no 'Medal Standings' nothing. This is nothing more than a 800 MS Point Arcade game (a rather forgettable one at that), that got a full retail release. Shameless.
One last thing, the online vs is OK. The 2 games I played online both filled up quickly (no idea how....who is buying this junk??) and there were no lag issues or anything like that. Remember of course that you only get to play one event online though...no 'Medal Standings' after several events, just one go through of one of the 4 events and their identical events with different names.

2010 FIFA World Cup Review

(More customer reviews)Whether you are a huge soccer fan or totally new to the sport this game is a blast. I bought Fifa 10 at release and have played it a ton and this game only improves on it. Same great engine from Fifa 10 is tweaked to address some major annoyances. (Defenders chesting balls in the box down straight to attackers for gimme goals, easy chips of the keeper)
Scatter shot observations.
All 199 teams, many with authentic jerseys. New stadiums and overall presentation is great although the in-game cut scenes can get a bit repetitive.
Graphics in the cut scenes are also improved and the player close-ups look better than ever. Captain your country is a pretty cool feature, and if you have a created player from Fifa 10 you can transfer him over. The stats you worked so hard to build up will not transfer though as you have to progress by performing well in qualifying and friendlies on the way to the World Cup.
Tourney mode starts with qualifying and friendlies. A simulate match option would come in very handy here since it takes forever to make it to the actual tournament.
Scenarios mode puts you in real life situations from the qualifying around the world with goals to accomplish in each game. Very fun mode with additions coming as the actual cup progresses. The announcers, while not my favorite individuals, are very accurate to situations and add to the game when you can hear them over the crowd (sliders available).
Online mode is fresh but limited to a World Cup tourney starting from the group stage. Pick one country and play three group matches to progress, then to the round of 16, and four single elimination games to win the cup. You do not have to play them all at once. Not sure how the matchmaking works but it is a blast. I would have enjoyed the inclusion of the team play modes which were a blast in Fifa 10. Doubt this was a space issue so I think it should have been included in a full price game.
I guess that is it. Overall a great purchase for most, especially if you have some competitive friends to play with!

The reason I stopped player FIFA is that controlling the ball is a very easy job like it sticks to the player's feet, and the players are like skating on the ground.I love this PES also because it deliberately designs motions for every famous (Star) players like C. Ronaldo and Rooney, so you can tell who is that particular player on the screen only by the way he runs even if you don't look at his name and face at all. This is amazing!

This has happened more than once and the developer NEEDS to address this problem ASAP!!!! This game also does NOT let you choose where to save your file at only automatically saves to hard drive by default. FIFA 08 Soccer Review

(More customer reviews)It's been a while, several years in fact since EA Fifa has shown anything new, they tweak a little here and there but for all intents and purposes up until now not a lot has changed. In most peoples honest opinion Winning eleven has been the best franchise for this sport since early 2000 and with some great reasons, the feel of the game just wasn't there for EA, they always had the scoop on the graphics and obviously the team names but not much else..until this year.
I must admit when I played the demo I was ehh..but i took a chance cause of the long wait for the installment of winning eleven and went out and got a copy of EA fifa 08...and am I glad I did.
EA has turned the game on it's head this year, firstly the graphics are very good indeed, crisp characters all of which are easy identifiable, they even managed to get some of the bigger stars running patterns stances and so on right...not an easy task...then we come the game itself.
What really does it this year for fifa is a few thigns which i hope will revolutionize the way the game is played, what I'm talking about is the pro camera and the pro player mode...
So your on a field playing soccer you make runs, you get ignored, you call for the ball and make a run and find the ball delivered in your path before your closed down and slip it inside to your teamate who belts it into the net, sound about right in soccer..well Fifa 08 has covered this perfectly, playing Fifa this year is like actually being out on the field. absolutely superb idea, you know can control just one player and make the runs score the goals and make the passes while everything else is going on around you. Your level is counted meaning that if you are out of position lose the ball a lot or get constantly caught offside your rating is gonna drop so for the first time in any soccer game anywhere you play as a team and not a dribbler cause this is real, and in real soccer i rarely see someone gather the ball in their own half dribble the entire team and score..this year Fifa is making it real.
So hats off to that idea, the sound is the usual witty dialogue from Andy Gray and simply adds to the realism, the sound overall is decent if not outstanding, where are the boo's when an opponent touches the ball, where are the screams of the manager on the sideline? these are just things i hope is covered in the next installment...
More teams...yes finally they gave us our teams back, now granted not everyone wants to play as Derry City ( Ireland league ) but this is a world game so all teams should be covered, think of the european championship, not every tie is gonna be aginst Real Madrid, Man Utd, AC Milan, in real llife you'l get drawn against the smaller leagues too and thank gawd this has been brought back from the measily 6 leagues we had last year...so well done EA for that too.
The downside of the game, the referee, it still seems like he has swallowed his whistle, if you try a slide tackle he blow it up 9 time out've 10, so far I've only tried slide tackling 6 time, 5 of which was a foul and 1 the ref played the advantage, they probably need to work in this for the next installment, possibly a good idea is to have instead of a generic ref, to have an assortment of refs and linesmen, some more strict than others, some prone to mistakes etc, it would make the game a little more exciting if you were playing against your arch rival and saw the referee you had for todays game was prone to calling the game wrong every now and then..then after the game you'd be furious ..sound like real life soccer? But maybe this is something EA can work on for next year aswell.With a whole set of new moves, shimmy's and interesting variation of goals you can score, EA has really raised the bar which is great for gaming now it's upto Winning Eleven to dig deep and try to take back it's crown, but i have a feeling This king won't be de-throned for quite some time.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 Review

I remember loving it on ps2 but that was years ago it was classic. i have fifa 2011 and enjoted 2010 but these games are completely different. no bashing either or and i wont tell you which one is better because its all based on your preference. I have 2011 because when friends come over they dislike pes 2011. they havent gotteb used to the controls, to them it's to tactical, and the passing is hard/anoying. but for me its the complete opposite. Onve you get the controls down pes 2011 is by far the closest thing you'll get to real futbol. I wont post no youtube videos but you cant look em up yourself. go see the build up to a goal from barcelona or brazil. look at how the players move. they dribble up field, start fainting slightly right, than cut back in, and booom they place a perfectly placed throughball. in PES 2011 the gameplay is dead on with how futbol is seen. i watch alot of south american futbol. and pes 2011 plays both styles. in fifa the scoring plays are like designed by the computer. its becomes a bit predicable. pass, pass, run run run. hope the backfield messes up a pass, striker picks it up runs and scores. its more like arcade. though its alot of fun. heres an example, in fifa messi cant cut up 3 guys and while hes slashing in place a ball into villa. 1st of all, the way fifa runs it doesnt allow for that type of gameplay. in pes the players twist,cut,and turn really fast. if you try to hawk dawn the ballhander he will SLIGHTLY CHANGE DIRECTION and he's past you. as it is in real life. again watch a live futbol match and you see what i mean. or Maradonas centery goal. i promise you the gameplay is amazing. compared to fifa i like it a alot better. u ask most people out there. the popular vote would be fifa its a much easier game to play, graphics are better, and they are licensed. however scoring in pes 2011 is hard yet rewarding. and they have all the teams. champions league and copa libertadores. just some teams like Chelsea will be called East London, but not many just a few.
Pros:
-I'm telling you these players move like they do on the pitch. realistic movements.
-passing is spot on when you get to understand the controls
-the faints and moves actually work and need to be used to score ( unlike fifa)
-realistic gameplay by far
-customizing team to play your style of futbol in formations and placing players literarlly anywhere on the field. ( remember when arsenal would place Thierry Henry offsides like 20 yards ahead of everyone on the upper right field) well u can do that here as well.
cons
- needs to license more stadiums and teams. though all players are present and the players look like they should its kinda anoying that brazil plays in a green jersey. almost all the other teams are with the official jersey though.
-not as great a presentation as fifa.
-graphics are a bit better on fifa but i guess that has to do more because of pes 2011 smooth gameplay.
-online is no where near fifas.
-penaltie shots are weird.
all in all an excellent game. if you and ur buddies are die hard futbol fans than get this. if you've liked ea's fifa and like the arcade type of futbol. go with that. its also a fun game with excellent graphics

Kinect Sports Review

(More customer reviews)I just got finished playing all of the sports in Kinect Sports and here is my evaluation:
1. Track & Field: This area includes a variety of different activities that work well with the basic body movements the Kinect can control. These include running , jumping, and throwing things (javelins & discus). I think young and old would both have fun with this! This may actually be my favorite activity in this game.
2. Bowling: Not as much control as Wi Sports bowling--but it is actually feels more like bowling when you can just stick your hand out to pick up the ball and then swing your arm to bowl. No controller to hold on to or push buttons. Once again this is an activity that would appeal to both young and old. Personally, I still like the bowling in Wii Sports better because of the more precise control.

3. Boxing: I like this better than the Wii Sports Boxing--but there is still some lag time and I just don't get the feel that all my moves are translating accurately. Plus, like an earlier reveiwer indicated it seems like punching wildly is actually a winning approach in this game. I do like how you can just hold your arms up to block--this felt very natural. I'm waiting for the Kick Boxing version because when you kick your legs in this activity your avatar kicks its legs--but they don't seem to translate to "hits" in the game.
4. Beach Volleyball: This one will take some time to master. It can get a bit confusing because there are several different techniques involved--jumping, hitting, and blocking. If you're tall--make sure you don't have a ceiling fan above you--or at least make sure it's not on!
5. Table Tennis: Once again it was fun to play without a controller in my hand but I felt there were a few times when the intensity of my hits were not reflected in what actually happened on screen. For example, when an opportunity comes up for a "smash" the game announces it and then actually does it regardless of whether I swung harder or not.
6. Soccer: Fun and interesting. You don't have to run around the field yourself. Your player magically appears where the ball is kicked to. Simple body movements control your kicks and blocks. Gray directional lines on the screen show the directionally options when kicking and your location when blocking.
Throughout the games the Kinect takes photos and short videos of your movements. These are played at the end of each game. The images are saved so you can share them with others. This feature will appeal to some and not to others. For example, I find the images of my son interesting and humorous--but I need to find out how to erase the images of me!
Adding a second player was extremely easy. If I wanted to join my son all I had to do was step in front of the TV and the Kinect added me to the in-play game. The graphics are also much better than the Wii! Kinect Sports looked great on a 40" HDTV. We don't even play the Wii on this TV because of how bad it looks.
Bottom line: If you have an XBOX already--adding the Kinect and Kinect Sports really adds a nice dimension to your video game experience. If you have young kids or older folks that have trouble remembering what buttons to push on a remote--it doesn't get any easier than the Kinect.
P.S. It is a neat and strange sensation to be standing in front of your TV and the avatar on the screen is doing the same movements that you are. You can sway, move your arms and legs, and dance, and the avatar mimics it. This alone makes for good entertainment!

- Can play Manager mode as a Manager and player, as a player only or as a Manager only. You will need to play on Professional or higher, if you want to make it to the Leaderboards.
- Manager mode is simplified quite a bit, but menus are much more cumbersome. Instead of simply playing the games, you now have a calendar mode, similar to the one in Forza 3. To get to the game, you have to let each day pass (smart way to hide the longer loading times). Maybe I'll get used to these menus, but for now, they seem too complicated.
- Transfers: You have now a menu to sort by any criteria you want. You can find many top players from Day 1 (unlike Fifa 10), but you will no longer afford them easily. In Fifa 10, you would make an offer slightly higher and the deal would almost always get through. In Fifa 11, if the player plays in the main 11 team, many times you would need to make his club a top offer (up to twice the asking transfer price). Once the club agrees, the negotiation with the player is a separate step. Fabregas would have to wait - I don't have enough money yet.
- Some things seem to be out (or buried in some obscure menus???)- no Scouting, Stadium Improvements, etc. Lots of options are in though - how to set up the team, what strategies to use, etc. Some were already available in Fifa 10, but Fifa 11 gives us even more.
- Gameplay: AI plays slightly better defense, long passes work better, dribbling is better. Shooting is not as spectacular as it was in Fifa 10, but maybe closer to reality. For a pure fun game, you may want to keep Fifa 10 around, because Fifa 11 is more tactical and scoring is not as easy as before.
- Multiplayer: you will need to activate a unique code that comes with the game. If you buy a used game, double check with the seller to be sure they didn't use the code.
- Graphics: seems to be the same engine, but the players definitely look better than in Fifa 10.
Bottom line - different game from Fifa 10, but still fun. Should you buy this over Fifa 10? Fifa 10 is a pure fun, more arcade type of game. Fifa 11 is more of a sim and is more tactical. Both are great games and different enough to be worth owning.
Updated Feb 19th: I am removing one star from the rating, because as of mid-February, the rosters didn't get updated with the January transfers. In Manager mode, the game claims it checks for latest teams, yet still the old teams show up. Torres is still with Liverpool, Pienaar is not with Spurs, Dzeko is not under Man City, Suarez not with Liverpool, etc. This detracts from the game experience. For a game called Fifa 11, they should have 2011 teams. I will update rating if game gets patched.

I was seriously still using my old Nintendo when I wanted to play Tetris, then I realized I should look for it on XBOX 360! Now my husband has less time to play "kill" games haha. We both enjoy playing this game, good competition and it also makes you use your brain. There are multiple types of play in this game, I think 8 or 9, so you don't get sick of the same one. I highly recommend this game!!!
