(More customer reviews)I won't go into how the game performs online, in single player, etc. Others have done a fine job of that already. What I know many people want to know is if the Gold Edition is worth buying over the standard edition or not. Well, I'll try to help you decide that for yourself, but in short (and in my opinion - No).
Simply put, all you get are some videos of the multiplayer maps with some tips on how to approach each map. I had hoped for more from these videos, honestly, and I don't really think they offer much insight at all. They seem rushed more than detailed. More than likely, these will be available online somewhere if they aren't already.
You also get immediate access to five additional guns that buyers of the standard edition will need to wait until they've reached rank 25. That's cool, I guess, but not really that great of an incentive.
You also get a small fold out poster...
If you're a collector of special editions, then great - go for it. If you really don't care that much or are swaying between the two, get the regular one - this one really isn't worth the extra cash. In my case, the store I purchased the game from actually had the standard edition on sale while the GE was regular price. So I ended up paying eighteen dollars extra for these five guns, poster, and videos. In my mind, that was a poor choice. For the usual ten dollars more, I'd have been less disappointed, but still not totally satisfied.
Explanation of my star ratings: I have this edition of the game 3 stars simply because I feel the additional content wasn't worth the additional price. I gave the game itself 4 stars overall because, while I'm enjoying it a lot, it doesn't keep me as immersed as Call of Duty 4 did.

Smash Court Tennis 3 Review

(More customer reviews)I own a few tennis games for the Xbox 360 (Top Spin 2, Top Spin 3, Virtua Tennis 3), and I have found something to love in all of them. Here are my _opinions_ on how Smash Court Tennis 3 compares with them in terms of graphics, sound, gameplay, depth (longevity), enjoyment.
Top Spin 2:
* graphics: TS2 clearly wins; sorry to say, but projected 1080p on a 92" screen, SCT3 really does look like a PS2 game, even though TS2 is years old by now
* sound: SCT3 wins by a large margin with realistic sound effects, atmospheric crowd noises
* gameplay: SCT3 wins by a large margin again thanks to its realistic game mechanic, which nicely mimics real tennis strokes and movement. TS2's gameplay just never really worked, at least for me. In fact, playing tennis in TS2 was really not enjoyable though the rest of the game: the career progression system, the mini-games, the rival, the charity events, etc. were excellent in TS2.
* depth: I'd say this is a draw. One of the things I loved about TS2 was the variety, depth and amount of things to do
* enjoyment: SCT3 is the clear winner - it's simply much more fun to play than TS2.
Virtua Tennis 2:
* graphics: VT2 has a slight edge here (see TS2 comment above), but neither VT2 nor SCT3 are graphically impressive
* sound: SCT3 sounds more realistic, but VT2 sounds more "exciting" - hard to describe why though. overall, I'd say this is a draw.
* gameplay: i love TS2's very arcade game mechanic, but I also love SCT3's more realistic mechanic. On balance, I'd have to say SCT3 gets the edge just because it is more like a real tennis game. TS2 is more like very exciting ping pong in comparison.
* depth: SCT3 has the edge here, but it's fairly close
* enjoyment: SCT3 again edges out VT2 by a small margin. SCT3 and VT2 are the most fun tennis games available.
Top Spin 3:
* graphics: TS3 is the _clear_ winner over any other tennis game. TS3 has amazing graphics with great details, 3D lighting, shading effects. Watching a TS3 match is like watching a tennis match on TV.
* sound: SCT3 easily beats TS3, which had pretty bad sound effects. The replays in TS3 are outstanding to watch.
* gameplay: SCT3 beats TS3, even though TS3 also has a very realistic game mechanic, perhaps even more realistic than SCT3. However, TS3 matches are never as much fun as SCT3. Is it because the TS3 gameplay is slowed down compared to SCT3 and VT2? I don't know, while it could be rewarding in TS3 to pull off a really elegant shot, it's just more fun in SCT3.
* depth: SCT3 easily wins here. TS3 dropped alot of the variety and depth that was in TS2.
* enjoyment: SCT3 easily wins
Hope this review helps you if you are choosing your next tennis game. At first, I was rather unimpressed with SCT3's graphics, but once I started playing it, I just "got into it" and the actual tennis matches were fun, exciting and realistic - a nice combination of my favorite bits of TS2, VT2 and TS3. The Pro Tour mode has tremendous depth and longevity. I haven't even tried playing SCT3 on Xbox Live yet as there's so much else to do in this game. At the price this game is currently selling for, you can't go wrong with this if you're looking for a great tennis game.

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II Review

(More customer reviews)When I gave up computer gaming for the cheaper and more simple world of console gaming I had one regret- stratgy games. They are my alltime favorite form of video gaming and I knew that they were next to impossiable to find and translate on a console. The last real time stratgy game I remember on a console was a port of Red Alert 2 on the old Playstation. When I heard LOTR Battle for Middle Earth was coming to the 360 I was hopfull but still afraid it wouldn't work- but I was happilly wrong. The controller works GREAT- not quite as good as a mouse but it is the next to the best thing. In fact one can argue that the camera control works better witht he 360 than the pc.
All that aside this is also just agreat game. It is very balanced and a lot of fun. The cpu is smart and tough and gives quite a challange to you. But of course the real deal is this game on Xbox live. It is a lot of fun and there is a lot of challange. I cannot reccomend this game enough. I just now pray that the upcoming C&C game will also be on the 360. PLEASE ea make it so.

Spider-Man 3 Review

Not because its hard , but because the camera is constantly bouncing off walls and violently shaking and the combat is definately not anything new or inventive. I think much older games like Jade Empire combat blows away Spidey-3. If you press the B button spidey can web an enemy also you can climb walls with the B button. Well guess what I pressed the B button to web an enemy while indoors and instead of spidey throwing a web at the enemy he wall walked on the side of a piano in the room?? Im like ah..no..I dont wanna wall walk this piano right now.Its just bad programming in so many ways.There is ZERO interaction with people and cars in this game. Spiderman might as well be a ghost as every single person in this game pays you absolutly no attention at all, that is of course unless your on a mission. Even when you land on the street , the car and driver dont even swerve or notice you. There's zero interaction. The entire city feels dead , almost depressing in a way. Games like Godfather,GTA,Crackdown all had interaction with nearly every person you walk by or bump into. But not Spiderman there is zero, zip,nada. I just got bored swinging around in a lifeless city. The only highlight in this game is Times Square at night, it looks pretty nice graphic wise. All in all S-3 doesnt have a polished next gen feel to it. I really wanted to like this game but I just cant get past some of the major flaws like the camera and the combat. But if you have children I think this game would be perfect for adolescent to young teens crowd. Worthy of Rent Only for me. PEACE
