Rock Band Official Guitar + Rock Band Microphone Review

Rock Band Official Guitar + Rock Band Microphone

My family had been looking for something to do as a unit and Rock Band 2 has turned out to be consistent fun for weeks now. We are two professionals with a 4-year old boy and 6-year old girl. We can enable the "no fail" mode and play pressure-free tunes at varying skill levels (if you choose to be challenged while having fun with the family). Being able to download music you want to hear or play makes the game very user friendly. We purchased a bass guitar about a week after playing with just the drums, guitar, and microphone.

Xbox 360 Rock Band 3 Wireless Fender Telecaster Player's Edition - Gunmetal Review

Xbox 360 Rock Band 3 Wireless Fender Telecaster Player's Edition - Gunmetal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First let me start off by saying that I am a huge Rock Band fan. I've stayed with the series ever since the beginning and have over 400 downloaded songs to go along with the exported songs from Rock Band 1, 2 and 3, Lego Rock Band, and the AC/DC track pack. I play all the time with friends. And just as I have upgraded my drums to the ion kit when the originals died, so too was it time to say goodbye to yet another guitar ( I think this is number 5 or 6? We have played a lot). This time however, instead of going for the usual standard rock band guitar, I thought I'd give one of these Player Edition Telecasters a try.
There are a a few differences obviously. Most are in the product description. So there shouldn't be any real surprises here. It's almost exactly the same size as the standard Strat. So it's not like you're getting one of Madcatz's oversized Bass guitars. The Fret buttons are 3/4 and after playing this for about a week, I don't really see any huge benefit or drawback to this. I just hope that it helps in the long term. I've had a few guitars quit on me early because one of the Fret buttons stopped working unless it was being pushed down by the righteous hand of God. I will say however, that the Frets are much, much quieter on the Telecaster than the standard Stratocaster. (As a side note, because of the 3/4 Frets, if you play Lefty, DO NOT buy this guitar. You will be excruciatingly frustrated).
Another difference is the strum bar. It is much stiffer than the standard guitar. It has that solid, "clicking" feel to it that is reminiscent of the early Guitar Hero 2 X-Plorer guitars. It's nice in that it gives you a more solid feel. However, it is almost too stiff for my taste. In really fast sections it can actually ware down your hand/ wrist if you are strumming a lot of notes in extensive sequences (Foo Fighters Monkey Wrench as an example).
The back button is also now a touch-sensitive overdrive button located between the strum bar and the neck of the guitar. While I am still getting used to it, I don't really like it very much. I'm just too used to raising my guitar into the air to set off overdrive. Anytime I've tried to hit the touch sensitive button, I've just lost my score multiplier (something I normally don't do when tilting the guitar). And that is exactly what the button is supposed to help alleviate. Still though, I can imagine that it would benefit some people.
All and all it is a solid guitar. I have no real complaints about it other than the wireless Xbox guide button takes far too much effort to turn on or be recognized. It's just what the rock band guitars should have been all along. A solid, fun, real looking piece of entertainment. The extra buttons are more out of the way (No more accidentally turning your Wah-Wah's off) and the whammy bar is a blast (It's solid metal and sitting on a massive spring. It also rotates down and out of your way if you're not planning on using it).
Final Verdict: If you play a lot of Rock Band and want something a little flashier than the standard Stratocaster, but don't feel like shelling out $200 for the Wooden, full sized versions of the guitars, get the Telecaster. No promises on increasing your scores though (It hasn't noticeably helped mine yet).
As I've noticed that they seem to be sold out of them on Amazon, try ordering them from NewEnglandMusicSupply.com. I bought the Butterscotch one from them a while back. And they seem to keep them in stock.

Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Telecaster Player's Edition Replica Review

Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Telecaster Player's Edition Replica
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got the Butterscotch colored replica. I had to order it from another vendor because Amazon lists the Butterscotch color as currently unavailable.
If your in the market for a guitar you know how they work so I won't bore you with stuff that isn't different than a stock guitar.
1. The Fret buttons are very nice. They move up and down quickly, are quiet, and are a bit larger than the standard RB2 Strat buttons. I would say maybe 3 or 4 millimeters fatter. Don't get this if your a lefty though as the keys don't surround both sides of the guitar and you would be unable to effectively play if your left handed.
2. The touch overdrive is really nice. I personally chose this guitar for that feature. It is placed above the strum bar rather then below like the GH Guitars. Also it isn't a function button, so you don't have to press it down, just touch. It's really nice for me because I tend to hose things up when trying to tilt into overdrive. Tilt still works, but the touch bar is far superior.
3. The whammy bar is pretty nice. It is solid metal and is adjustable to the side if you prefer. It is tensioned a bit strong by default but you can adjust it via a nut/bolt underneath to your preference.
4. Xbox buttons are placed well and the start/select buttons are a knob now. Pretty cool I thought. Also the whah whah adjuster is vertical now and more out of the way which is nice.
5. The strum bar is a mixed bag for me. It is a "click" bar like the GH guitars so it can be noisy. Also the one I received requires you to bottom out the down strum for a register which is odd. I am going to play with it a bit, it may just need some breaking in. Otherwise the strum is pretty standard fair and works well.
6. Can't say enough nice things about the strap. It's comfortable, easy to adjust, and just overall awesome.
7. Lastly the overall design is nice. The butterscotch color looks really nice and the head has non functional, but movable tuning knobs which is cool. It is a bit thicker than the strat but a hair shorter. I kind of expected it to be longer than the strat but it is not. The Chrome parts look really nice.
Overall I give this 4 stars. It's a nice guitar with some flaws that will be mostly preference to the user. If you have the bones to put down on it, try it out.

Rock Band Wireless Guitar Review

Rock Band Wireless Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me first off say that I bought this wireless Strat because I was hoping that it would work with Rock Band and Guitar Hero. It does not work with Guitar Hero. That being said the guitar seems to be a little more solid than the one that came with the game. A lot of people seem to like the Guitar Hero Les Paul better. However, I really play guitar, and I can honestly say that this one feels more like the real thing. The buttons allow sliding chords, the buttons feel more like frets than buttons, and overall it seems more second nature when playing.
Ultimately, this is a purchase for those who need freedom from the usb hub and 10 foot cable. As for Guitar Hero, well their taking sides has forced me as a consumer to choose sides. I am sticking with Rock Band.

Rock Band 3 - Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller for Xbox 360 Review

Rock Band 3 - Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller for Xbox 360
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I write this review as someone who has gone through both the original rock band guitar and the rock band 2 guitar, and this review is mainly aimed at people who are already familiar with these sort of things. In a nutshell, this guitar can be exactly described as a rock band 2 guitar that looks like a rock band 1 guitar. It retains all the upgrades of the RB2 guitar, including quieter frets and a sensor to auto-calibrate game lag, while looking like the original black RB1 guitar (a step backwards IMO, as I much prefer the wood grain sunburst design of the RB2 guitar).
I can't find any improvements or differences besides the rock band logo being emblazoned on one end of the guitar strap. The product description advertises quieter fret buttons "over the original" which must refer to the RB1 guitar since I feel and hear no difference compared to the RB2 guitar.
Overall it's still a solid guitar controller... it's just disappointing that no effort was made to improve it in any way.

Ezjam Guitar Review

Ezjam Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The only real reason I got this wireless was for the smaller buttons. I have a hard time playing the older GH games that don't sync with the Rockband controller so this looked like a good idea. The green color was disappointing, since it claims to be "metallic" but definitely IS NOT. It's basically just cheap green plastic.
The item description also doesn't mention you MUST have a WIRED 360 controller to hook this thing up to your console.
Another problem I found with it is that it has issues deploying star power and I found that frustrating because it was a good way to miss notes while trying to get the thing to register it was tilted upward.
Overall, I would avoid this product it you're just looking to get it for the color or wireless option. If you don't have problems with the bigger buttons, there are much better wireless guitars out there.

The ezGear ezJam Guitar Controller for XBOX 360 is the perfect addition for Guitar Hero III or Rock Band Game. Whether you have just the Guitar Hero Game and need a great guitar, or you have a guitar and want a second, you can't go wrong with the ezJam. The ezJam Guitar is also perfect for small hands. If you find that your hands are too small for the Guitar that comes with your game, the ezJam is perfect for you. Women with small hands prefer the S10's small keys and kids find it much easier to play the 5 smaller frets of the ezJam over standard frets.

Logitech Xbox 360 Wireless Guitar Controller Review

Logitech Xbox 360 Wireless Guitar Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
That was my first thought upon unboxing Logitech's Xbox 360 Wireless Guitar Controller. The second thing I noted, as I lifted it out, was that it is very heavy. This is no cheap plastic toy! This is a solid, well-constructed, replica guitar. And the quality shows.
Inside the box, the guitar is well protected for shipping with bubble wrap and cardboard spacers. Of note is the fact that this is a one piece unit. This completely eliminates the connectivity issues between the neck and body, as sometimes seen in guitar controllers that come boxed as two pieces. The guitar measures 33.75 inches from tip to base, with a slightly larger body than my Guitar Hero World Tour guitar, which measures only 31.25 inches in length (see the photo I posted with this review). This extra length pushes the fret buttons up a little bit, but I did not find this to be an issue. I store my guitars on a stand, but if you use a guitar bag or case, be aware that it might not fit. Rounding out the included accessories are a user manual, a quality strap, some batteries to get you up and playing fast, and an adapter for older style Xbox 360 headsets.
IMPRESSIONS
The guitar itself is modeled after Guitar Hero guitars, with the raised fret buttons and the neck slider feature. Keep this in mind if you are someone who prefers the look of the Rock Band guitars, with their in-line fret buttons. The chrome detailing, including tuning pegs and bridge, and use of real screws in the white pick guard lends an authentic look, effectively disguising the Start (bridge) and Star Power buttons (pickups) while keeping them functional. There is even an authentic looking nut between the headstock and the neck. The Star Power button sits right under the ball of your hand, so it's easy to press down on while strumming (you can also still rock Star Power with a neck tilt). The strum bar is the best I have ever seen on a guitar controller. It has exactly the right tactile feel, and is responsive yet quiet. One of my fret buttons makes a bit of a clickety-clack when I hit it, but I am hoping this goes away as it wears in. Overall, this is a quiet guitar, allowing for more enjoyment of the music.
COMPATIBILITY
I have tested this guitar with the following Xbox 360 games that I own:
* Band Hero: Yes
* Guitar Hero Van Halen: Yes
* Guitar Hero 5: Yes
* Guitar Hero World Tour: Yes
* Guitar Hero III: Yes
* Guitar Hero II: Yes
* Rock Band The Beatles: Yes
* Rock Band 2: Yes
* Rock Band: Yes
CONCLUSION
This is a quality guitar controller that I would recommend to any serious gamer who wants to add authenticity to their music games. It is a joy to play.

Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Wooden Stratocaster Replica Review

Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Wooden Stratocaster Replica
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When Mad Catz announced the $300 Fender guitar replica made many question how out-of-hand peripheral costs were getting, especially with the music genre. If you are a Rock Band 2 enthusiast, with all the DLC offered by Harmonix on XBOX Live, tons of peripherals laying around, and those of you that have the ION Drum set sitting in your game room, you will want (and must) have this.
Being a guitar player for over a decade, I must say this makes playing that much more fun for me personally. Those individuals that have only played this game with the "kit" included instruments, be it Rock Band or Guitar Hero, may hate this item. This guitar is the full size and full weight of my a Fender Stratocaster, and feels natural to play with my background. Compared to the plastic completion, this thing is huge, and may effect you "shredders" out there. This guitar is not as accurate during faster parts of most songs (do to real fret spacing), I must say that I don't mind missing notes when playing with this. The only thing that is not "real Fender" on this guitar is the plastic fret board, but that is not a negative thing, and blends nicely with this accessory.
This guitar, combined with the overdrive pedal, give a new aspect of playability that renews any avid player of the Rock Band series continued interest. Before you buy however, you have to ask yourself do you prefer the Rock Band controller button layout (flat) or the Guitar Hero controller button (raised) layout. If you prefer the Guitar Hero style, this controller is not for you, and will not change your mind and it may actually make you hate it more. The fret buttons are in the real fret locations, so you will have to adapt to stretching your fingers hit all the keys, which makes it very difficult to play during faster parts.
Pros:
* All natural wood body and neck made by the Fender factory itself
* Real metal tuners, connection port (for use of the overdrive pedal), and whammy bar
* Full size and weight (just over 7 lbs.)
* 2.5 million cycle strumming switches
* Start and Select buttons hidden as volume knobs on the guitar
* Whammy bar hangs in a traditional place
* Works amazing with the Overdrive Pedal accessory
* Great for traditional guitarist that want to transfer and play music genre games
Cons:
* Hard to move fast between buttons for speed accuracy do to the real spacing of the frets
* Strum bar is louder, clicks, and does more wear-n-tear on the fingers
* Weight (for those not used to it) can be overwhelming, especially for those long play sessions
* No calibration mechanism on the guitar
* Three AA batteries to use (still no XBOX rechargeable battery pack use)
* Easy to hit Start and Select knob-buttons when using whammy bar.
Final Thoughts:
The Fender Stratocaster XBOX 360 Replica Guitar for Rock Band is not your snap/impulse purchase, or for those just getting into the game. This guitar and purchase are for those individuals that absolutely love this game, that has all the previous peripherals for this game (such as the ION Drum Rocker Kit with expansion cymbal, multiple plastic guitars/bass laying around, the Rock Band Stage Kit, the overdrive pedal, a ton of downloadable content, etc., etc.). This guitar is an investment, and a serious one at that, and I can say brings the rock experience a little closer to home. This Fender Replica is truly a thing of beauty.

This is a great guitar for the price. I like the wired for that sense of a better connection verse wireless (just like internet, I feel wired is better than wireless). The buttons on this are not really cheap to say, but very hard to push in. I am not saying they take all your strength, but they do need to be broken into. The strum bar has a nice feel to it. Overall this is a great wired guitar for anyone out there who just doesn't want wireless just yet.
